    Mayweather versus Hearns

Who do you think is the second greatest fighter from the state of Michigan, both obviously behind the great Joe Louis. Mayweather did more, in more weight classes but lets be honest the lower weights aren't as highly regarded as the big powerful classes Hearns was dealing with. Also you have to take in the fact that better athletes competed in Hearns era and the names Benitez, Hagler, Leonard, and Duran are all arguably greater than any fighter that Mayweather has fought. Floyd is undefeated and hasn't fought weak opposition, so it does count for something and has outclassed majority of his opponents. So who do you think was greater? The man with the undefeated domination or the man that was dominate but never the very best but could of been because of the competition he was up against.

I think I agree with you. Yes, Toney is really good and so was Stanley Ketchel. Michigan has produced some very good fighters. Andre Dirrell will trump them all. j/k

Hearns has a gr8er legacy than Mr boat buyer. Dude fought everybody, win or lose. Mr boat buyer got time to do more, but I still don't think he can overtake Hearns.

Hearns also wins head to head at 147.

At WW this only ends in Floyd being a bloody mess.

Still, Floyd is more naturally an 'old (weight) division' behind Hearns so you can't knock Floyd in this matchup.

No debate, Hearns is greater. In losing, sometimes the loser is the better fighter, that is how I felt when I watched SRL vs Hearns 1, not only that, Hearns clearly won the rematch.

He beat Wilfred Benitez, SRL (2nd fight), Roberto Duran, Pipino Cuevas, Virgill Hill. Mayweather has more to do, to be considered as great as Hearns.

He wen't as high as C.W. The thing is, to me it isn't fair to pin someone as big as Hearns against Mayweather, Hearns just too big.

I should have worded the title differently. Hearns would probably decapitate May. I was strictly talking about what they have accomplished and who was the better fighter.
