As much as I like Haye, Ruiz is right in this matter. Ruiz has been screwed over countless amounts of times by boxing politics and for once it seems to be going his way. He has been loyal to the WBA and for them to turn their backs on him would make them look terrible. Whether or not he should be the #1 contender is another story, but the fact is he is the #1 contender and they must abide by their own rules. If they make a judgment against Ruiz, they will only shatter their own credibility.

Actually no matter what you type because you mean ****, Wlad is the undisputed heavyweight champion. You can't change that and it must hurt huh?

Of course this fight is in jeopardy. Seems like most of the big fights in '09 have been nothing but teases.

Haye is slowly but surely making himself irrelevant.

That means to pay Ruiz to step aside they would have to give him a cut approaching 33% of the total purse bid.

Essentially they would be paying Ruiz as much as they were making (maybe more than Haye would as challenger) themselves for him to sit at home and watch. Considering this fight is not very lucrative I can't see anybody making million dollar concessions.
The promoters would contractually have to pay out one third? Can't they just throw out some hefty figures like 100-200K to step aside but promise Ruiz a shot against the winner? If I was Ruiz, I think it'd be nice to get paid a good chunk of change to sit on my ass, rather than to take punches to face in the ring...

HW are just ******s all of them, they all have canceled fights this year for all kinds of ****ed up reasons. No one cares about anything but a few fights and they can't even get that done, ****'em let live in obscurity like bums.
