This is not a jabbing competition. There are hooks uppercuts right hands as well

paulie threw 949 punches (to the 663 of diaz)
621 jabs from paulie (229 from diaz)
328 powerpunches for paulie (434 from diaz)

at the end of the fight paulie threw more punches than diaz. Landed more punches than diaz. cut his face. made it swell up while paulie's face looked a closer to how to did before that fight than diaz' did.

191 landed punches for paulie to 178 for diaz.
111 jabs landed for paulie to the 55 for diaz.
but diaz landed 123 powerpunches to 80 for paulie.

Doesnt the compubox tell the tale?

other than power punches and overall percentage of landed punches v. attempts paulie dominated in almost every aspect. he threw more (against the "VOLUME PUNCHER!!!!") than he got in return and landed more on diaz than diaz landed on him.

mmmm...i dont know what you use to score fights but its not a realistic approach otherwise you too would have paulie ahead.

infact overall in everyround paulie threw more punches total and jabs than diaz. sometimes diaz would only attempt a fraction of the punches paulie would. for example: in round 6 diaz landed a mere 2 out of 8 jabs while paulie landed 11 of 54. a HUGE difference.

in total output paulie never was outdone in anyround.

in jabs he dominated every round.

the only thing in diaz' favor was he threw more power punches than paulie in any given round.

so with these FACTS (not opinion...they are straight from compubox) how can you say juan diaz deserves a card of 10 rounds to 2 rounds in his favor?

and while you're right than you theres more to a fight than jabs, for paulie it made his case. he was able to effectively dance around the ring and stay on his toes and just force diaz to eat jab after jab after jab. and that makes a differnce in the fight. especially when thats whats happening round after round.

and going back to punch output when two fighters land about the same number of punches (ie. round 4 diaz was 14 of 56 and paulie was 13 of 68 or round 8 diaz 16 of 47 and paulie was 14 of 71 and so on) what looks more impressive? the fact that diaz landed two more than paulie or that paulie attempted 20, 30, etc. some odd punches against the volume puncher?

he outworked the man. and out boxed him. he deserved to earn a draw at the VERY LEAST!

Dude Diaz is a punching bag & will never be an A-class fighter, thank god he went to college. I don't see Diaz fighting any where out side of Texas.

Paulie gotta be careful though. There's a fine line between fighting an injustice...and being seen as a whining little *****.

Paulie is not the most masculine dude. And many people don't like what they would perceive as a "guido", "******" or just a slick-tongued NewYorker.

So PM has one, maybe two, more days of ****-talking, then he has to dead it and let his team go to work. HBO will give Paulie another date.

I feel that Nate Campbell has a legitimate beef. That looked like a head-clash to me. But I just don't wanna hear it from Nate because I get tired of hearing his mouth. Eff Nate Campbell.

Compu box doesn't count toward scoring fights it should never be invovled in an arguement about judging fights.

I usually don't like when fighters go off like this but just like Nate Campbell's complaint about the ref claiming his cut was caused by a punch was right, Malignaggi is clearly right here. No one watching that fight that has any knowledge of boxing would score that fight 118-110. Even scoring it 116-112 for Diaz requires a little bias at least towards the style.

I hope the attention this is getting leads to something actually happening. This Van Hoy prick needs to be banned.

Correct, you can't win on jabs alone.

#1 A Fighter must land more total punches in the round - which Paulie did.

#2 A fighter must also show more "Ring Generalship" by dictating how the fight is being fought. - Which Paulie did.

#3 Is important - "Effective" Aggression, Diaz tried to come forward, true enough, but he really was NEVER able to cut off even the smaller ring, and wasn't able to get off nearly as many punches as normal, due to Paulie's jab peppering him all night. Just look at his cut up and swollen and bruised face.

The bottom line is Diaz got out worked, he landed fewer punches, he was never able to catch up with Paulie's footwork, he didn't dictate the fight. He got a gift win from incredibly biased judges - Van Hoy in particular, 10 rounds to 2 - that is blatent bias, and pure B.S., he should NEVER be allowed to score a fight again.

And I am not even a Paulie fan, in fact I prefer the Diaz kind of fighter, plus his trainer Ronnie Shields is a friend of mine, but I know Diaz lost that fight...

GBP and Diaz need to give Paulie a rematch in New York. Look what Paulie did in a small ring just! Let Malignaggi fight Diaz in a big ring and Diaz might not win 3 rounds!

A few days before the actual fight with Juan Diaz, Maligngagi went on the record with BoxingScene to publicly voice his concerns about the officiating in Houston, Texas. The one individual, who stood in Malignaggi’s mind as a biased official, was Gale Van Hoy. After the official scores came down last Saturday night, it was no surprise to Malignaggi that Van Hoy’s card was a one-sided 118-110 ledger for Diaz. [details]
No no no Van Hoy! You aren't getting off that easy... And what the **** was Juan Diaz doing soo effectively that would have had him even close on the scorecards let alone winning.

I'm sorry for being so blunt guys but I share Paulie's anger. I really enjoy watching both fighters. But there was no way in hell Diaz won more than 4 rounds of this fight. 5 would be pushing it. And its interesting how people neglect the fact that this was scored UD! All 3 of them got paid! There was no way Diaz scored more than 112 points. And there was no way Paulie scored any less than 116. I had it 116-112 Paulie. This is outrageous. I hope Van Hoy gets hit by a bus
