Was Sugar Shane Mosley's win over Margarito smoke and mirrors?

Was this really a sign that SSM is back or was it just a good night against an overrated fighter tailor made for him? I guess RJJ is in a similar position after his exciting performance vs Lacy.

Is that why SSM is so desperate to get a big payday with Floyd or Pac? Is it because he knows that he could look poor in his next outing and end up losing that potential big payday?

TBH I'd think the fight vs Pac/Floyd being on the line would motivate SSM to pull out his best against his next opponent but he's seemed all too desperate to only fight one of these guys.

In a way yes.Since Margarito didn't have his plaster and Shane had plenty of tape on guys who had success to some degree with Margarito and made it look good.

BUT ****m is a hell of a trainer,Shane did the gameplan perfectly and looked very good.I don't consider his performance against Mayorga woryng since Mayorga wasn't that bad and he was much bigger tha nShane who ain't really a 154 lber.Looked goos vs Cotto and Collazo befre.

Sugar Shane Mosley still has alot in the tank, the only time he looked kinda shot was against Mayorga but that was because of the weight. Mosley can give anybody in the ww division a hard time.

I disagree. 1st off you act like Mosley had become garbage before that. He was down at one time but bounced back very nicely. Before Margarito he had stopped Mayorga, owned a very good Collazo, and went head up with a prime Cotto. He was fighting very well to me even before the Margarito fight. Mosley is definatly the worst matchup for Margarito though. Mosley could lose his next fight only because I think all these guys are top guys. I think he could lose to Berto and everyone would say that he sucks or is old but I just think Berto is good and could be a touch matchup for him.

I think people sleep on Berto because he's always looking average but that is against Southpaws. I think he would look very good against a righty. It wouldnt be shocking to see Mosley lose to a guy like Clottey because he is also good. So is Williams and so on. I dont think you can compare Mosley to RJ. Mosley never loss to a Glen Johnson or looked horrible like RJ did to Tarver. Mosley never fell off like RJ and he's beaten alot of good guys recently. RJ got destroyed by Calzalghe but Mosley was even up with Cotto before the Margarito fight. Its apples & oragnes. He also decapitated Vargas before that. He wasnt down by any means at the time of the Margarito fight

Yeah I was really impressed with the Margo fight Naazim did a great job with creating the plan and SSM followed it beautifully. I have to watch Cotto-Mosley again.

It will be easier to judge after he fights sayyy clottey... I think ssm would beat berto with ease and clottey would be a much tougher fight for him.. plus we can compare it to cottos fight against clottey...

So many people say that about the Mayorga fight but I never saw that. 1st off the fight was at 154 where Mosley doesnt really belong and Mayorga isnt a bum by any means. Most of all though, I thought Shane would have some problems only because Mayorga is so awkard and fights so opposite of a normal fighter. Its like when Soliman gave Winky problems. There just so awkward but I still thought Shane looked good and he stopped him

I didn't mean the SSM comparison to RJJ like that I was just saying that RJJ is another one who may be smoke and mirrors but I know that SSM never looked anywhere close to as shot as Roy did. Roy got KTFO twice in a row before looking desperate to survive against Tarver the third time and looking a shell of his former self against Calzaghe.

beating a man that was the number 1 WW at the time is smoke & mirrors? Shane destroyed him too, if thats the case is Cotto just smoke and mirrors as well? he lost to the man and still has 100% no proof of anything illegal happening in the fight. margorito had his wraps exposed after the fight and nothing was said and didn't have them checked nothing was said. Cotto his fans or the media didn't have any proof that night or for six months after til he fought Mosley. Discrediting the win also takes away from cotto being that cotto couldn't hurt margorito with his best shots, Mosley did however and won. In the best fight of 09.
