I know many of the larger and physically talented Black American atheletes are being identified early and pushed through and into Basketball and Football where to be quite honest there is a lot more money and bigger chance for success.Comment

None of the eight titles at middleweight and super middleweight are held by African-American fighters. So the "they've all gone into football and basketball" excuse doesn't work, since middleweights are really too small for those sports.
Although it seemed for a long time that African Americans were naturally the best fighters, in reality no race is superior or more athletic than any other.
However, a very high percentage of the best fighters of all races do grow up in poverty: Dempsey, Louis, Frazier, Pacquiao, etc. The greater prosperity of African-Americans may have something to do with there being fewer elite fighters.Comment

I'll tell you what happened man. It's quite simple...In the past there was
Jack Johnson
Joe Louis
Sugar Ray robinson
Muhammed Ali
Mike Tyson
All some of the greatest fighters to ever fight and truly are icons
But now there arent many folks
Benard and Mosley and Roy are still relevant but are obviously getting to old for this ****.Now there's only floyd and paul williams but im getting tired of Floyds antics.
Ive got to say though, paul williams has a bright future.
-Football
-Basketball
In this day and age, why would a rather large African American with a good degree of athleticism, would go and risk his health and potentially having his face bashed in, when he can make many, many more millions of dollars playing pro ball. That's the reality. It has been discussed quite a bit in the past.

thats not quite that accurate remember middleweight is the weight limit meaning they have to get to 160lbs. Also, training for boxing is much much different than say basketball or football in that one of the objectives for a boxer is to lose weight
often times football players target weight gain in order to be able to go through the rigors of a full season
100% agree different physical traits of different races and nationalities make them successful in this sportAlthough it seemed for a long time that African Americans were naturally the best fighters, in reality no race is superior or more athletic than any other.
interesting perspective thanks for thatHowever, a very high percentage of the best fighters of all races do grow up in poverty: Dempsey, Louis, Frazier, Pacquiao, etc. The greater prosperity of African-Americans may have something to do with there being fewer elite fighters.Comment
