Does any one on here honestly think that Hopkins can KO the Roy from now?

tarver had the height and reach on jones, in the first fight in the center of the ring jones still had the advantage, only when jones fell back to the ropes is when tarver got to tee off...in the rematch first round jones began to outbox him, second round tarver made the adjustments and got the perfect counter shot...

Hopkins is beter than Taver in every category except power. Hopkins has much much better defense, is faster, has better timing, actually knows how to figh on the inside, leads better amd is a better counter puncher.

better but not miles better than tarver....tarver's biggest problem is focus...if it ain't jones in front of him, he is very ordinary...would have been a much more competitive fight imo if he had the same burn for nard that he had for jones...

naa nobody knew back then he would stop a lightheavy with a bodyshot...

i don't even think he was as good as when he fought toney...just was a better fighter than hopkins str8 up...he pretty much gave up the last 2 rounds peddling backwards against nard...that wasn't hard to see....

Roy didn't have an easy night in 93 when he had superhuman talents. I am convinced that rob is nuts. Roy pot shotting a defensive master who doesn't get hit flush in Hopkins all night? Calzaghe doesn't have the greatest defense, and he looked like Whitaker against Jones. RJJ's hands are not goign to do anything with no set up behing them.

He won the fight, but come on. At a point where they were contenders, and Hopkins was still a brawler at the time. That was then this is now. Roy would get murked. And that supposed injury makes no sense, why fight 2 months later?

You have to be a real big guy to KO Roy even now. Tarver and Johnson are huge and were even bigger to skinny ass Roy who just came down 25 lbs of pure muscle.

Maybe Hopkins can decision Roy, but KO him? damn!

And anyways, I think Jones beats Hopkins because of his handspeed and Hopkins inability to adjust to fighters with decent handspeed(Taylor, Calzaghe). ROY HAS THE FASTEST HANDS AT LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT.(maybe Dawson does but Roy is not too far from Dawson in handspeed).

tarver and johnson were both LHW, just like roy jones....not "real big guys."

they weren't cruisers or heavyweights....

tarver has 19 KO's in 27 wins.

johnson has 33 KO's in 49 wins, and hopkins is right behind at 32 in 49 wins....so its not like the guys that KO'ed roy were "big" punchers...

IMO hopkins does KO/TKO roy, but if not, he beats the **** outta roy over 12, the same way calzaghe did.

i'm just amazed you guys actually think roy has a chance against hopkins at this point.
