on top of the fact that Bernard is already at a 12 month layoff, and hasnt even signed to fight anyone yet... and will be 45 by January...

by november, roy will have had 4 fights in 12 months...

its not a fight where i see a CLEAR and EASY winner...
I see what you're saying, but some of these cats have to amaze you. Roy looked spectacular last week, but some think Roy will be there darting in and out landing thriple left hooks against Hopkins when he couldn't against Johnson or Tarver years ago. While Roy is still very fast now he isn't the superhuman speedy guy he once was. Tbh I don't even want this fight to happen, because while Hopkins may be older he has aged less, and even if Hopkins were to win it would hold little value, since Roy hasn't been winning on an elite level since he beat Tarver the first time.

Come on man, how one could think Tarver is a better counter puncher than Hopkins is beyond me. Hopkisn has much better technique speed and timing, hence why Hopkins was the only one landing counterpunches in their fight.

If he tried to I think he could but that's not his style.

He does have some power left, he nearly KO'd pavlik, knocked down calzaghe and knocked down tarver. Those guys typically don't go down.

altho im one of the biggest roy fans on here... im also one of the most reserved when it comes to what roy can still do...

            Dawson? no way...

But Bernard... its that Bernards style isnt overwhelming to Roy... they both throw about the same amount of punches... Bernard is a thinker in the ring... not a swinger... and thats what Roy needs... someone that will fight him and take their time... allowing Roy to do his OWN thing... but the 45 yr old athlete going on a 15 month layoff... meanwhile Roy coming into his 4th fight in 12 months...

Bernard may be the better skilled fighter at this point... but the activity level is a difference maker... and the fact Bernards style isnt Roys ******nite necessarily...

like I said.. I see a 12 round chessmatch... no easy clear winner for either...

I would confidently put alot of money on Roy if this fight ever happens.

u never know. one punch can change a fight. if hopkins cought roy flush on the jaw with one of his overhand rights then i could see roy going down

The more I think about it the more I think hopkins would hurt Roy. This isn't a good fight for the sport, I wouldn't want to see Jones get KO'd again, no matter who the opponent is.

I'd put all my points on hopkins winning.

Roy beats jeff lacy and all of a sudden he can beat an elite fighter, I'm not buying into it.
