I'm saying Diaconu's title shot was due since he won a title shot against Hoye.He eventually got it against Henry.
Same thing with Cloud,he beat Gonzales in a eliminator and now getting a title shot.Doesn't matter if the title isvacant or not.

Yeah but they were eliminators for ''titles''.Just titles.Not THE TITLE.Then I'd agree with you.
At the time Hoye and Diaconu were both fringe contenders in the big picture and top ranked by the WBC so it was an eliminator.Hoye was at one time ranked by The Ring.
Julio Gonzales was past his best but still a fringe contender and so was Cloud.Gonzeles was a former champ and contender.Again another good title eliminator.

lewis,bowe,foreman,holmes all vacated titles because they didn't want to pay santioning fees to the corrupt governing bodies.many american boxers have done it as well.once a guy is established as a top fighter & can draw large crowds & demand a large payday he doesn't need a belt.pacman,mayweether,hatton,cotto,jones jr all don't need titles to make huge paydays.European champions do thou & will do anything to hold on to a title because without one they are irrelevant in the states & that's where the real $$$$ is.even the klits who do okay but don't get nearly the money in Europe they could in the states.

Fans who think European boxers are dominating now are actually not correct.American & Latin boxers have been vacating titles regularily for years to avoid paying large sanctioning fees.established boxer with large fan bases don't need a world title.the world title means nothing when there are 4 in each weight class.only in Europe does a belt mean something because without one that boxer is irrelevant in the boxing world.how many of them don't fight in the states defending their titles? These belts are a JOKE. Recess,Interm,Real,Diamond Champion. It is getting ridiculous. That meeting the 30 or so promoters had should all agree on a voting panel. Say AP writers that cover Boxing from all parts of the world should be the voting panel. Say 50 writers vote every month for the champion of each division just like College football does.
