cotto has a good resume. it's not fair to compare him to pacquiao's though.

pacquiao suffers from the fact that most of his wins come with relative ease.

people tend to think less of an opponent when one wins so easily.

floyd and roy suffered from the same problems. their wins came so easily that it's easier to diminish or discount the opponent.

cotto struggles with almost every decent fighter he faces so it makes it seems like he's fighting the best competition.
You can look at it like that, but I think that just comes down to your opinion. I highly doubt anyone would call Mosley just a "decent" fighter. Cotto fights any and everyone. Though I understand why Pacquiao fought Diaz, I can't say Diaz was THE best Lightweight at the time they fought, nonetheless he was a "decent" champion.

You can dissect it a million times, and people will still have their opinions. Both guys have great resumes. I just feel Cotto's fought more of a variety of styles showing how he can adapt.

pac has better names but cotto fought anybody as oposed to pac who never took on anybody who would give him stylistic problems. even after what margarito did to him cotto still got in there with clottey knowing he would get pushed backwards for 12 rounds. i gained alot of respect for him after that. pac just takes on guys who come to trade with him, which fits him. hes never taken on a skilled boxer, cotto has taken on all comers.

        cotto needed the clottey fight.

he needed a big win after the marg loss to get a megafight.

fighters generally fight in a pattern that their promoter lays out for them.

arum needed to get cotto a good win after the marg loss so that he can have a reason to put him up against pacquiao.

just like pacquiao's run in 2003-2005 , where he fought barrera , marquez and morales.

people make it seem like pacquiao was fearless and take on everybody. he might be that but the main reason for all those big name fights back to back to back was not because of pacquiao's courage so much as it was his promoter muhammad trying to cash out on pacquiao as much as possible before pacquiao left him.

Are you saying that JMM is not a skilled boxer? He gave pacquiao a lot of stylistic problems. You've got to be kidding me. Barrera and Morales are also excellent boxers who like to brawl. Oscarr is also a very skilled fighter.
