Honestly, I can't complain that much because Miguel is just facing the other side of the HBO media-driven hype machine that helped him achieve his status to begin with. For instance- can anyone believe the balls on the pre-fight spin between Malinaggi and Cotto? They actually tried to make it look like a small, feather-fisted light welterweight had any chance at all against a solid boxer that we all knew was about to move-up...
Now that hype job is riding Pacquiao because of the excitement he brings and Cotto, having lost in recent memory, isn't enjoying quite the same level of recognition. So what? That doesn't affect his ability in ring, not really, and if he's the underdog that's just all the more reason for him to perform. A lack of expectiations will do wonders for Miguel come fight-night. He's not going to lay down for Pacquiao if he went to war with a much larger man in Margarito. A victory will put him back in the throne, and this temporary fall in Miguel's stock will be forgotten as much as his years of HBO ****-riding have obviously been forgotten by some calling him a 'whipping boy' now..
