      • its mayweather propaganda at its best to draw atention to the marquez fight and should he stop marquez something pac could'nt do then that gives him some leverage to bring to the negociations should pac beat cotto. if cotto wins over pac then it will be easier to negociate a cotto fight. lets get it done.

I agree. But either way Arum would be involved so I expect the negotiations to be very, very problematic to say the least. But let me play devil's advocate for a second.

If Pac wins there would be no question as to who the two best and most popular boxers are in the planet. Negotiations would be extremely contentious but in the end a more or less even agreement will be found thanks to the certainty of a huge overall pot to share around.

If on the other hand Cotto wins (as I expect) then Mayweather can go back to his usual rhetoric that Cotto is not up to his level and that he deserves to have a split similar to Pac's, something that a newly emboldened Cotto (and Arum) would be loathe to agree to especially considering that Cotto/Pac's PPV numbers will almost surely be higher than PBF/JMM even without actual PPV buys from the Philippines. Add to that Mayweather's obvious public disdain for Cotto and I actually see those negotiations as being more difficult. Just my take.

          • gabilan i agree with you but i just don't see problems with the negotiations. arum needs to understand that floyd is who he is. he fights for money.if you think that you're going to get more money than him then it won't be no fight period.in his mind nobody gets more money than him.

            • can you imagine how ****ty the boxing community would be if that jackass arum screws up a potential myweather vs pac or mayweather vs cotto fight. people hate floyd and everyone wants to beat him.there's a price to pay(MONEY) and arums needs to stay the hell out of it and let either fight him.

                • Floyd can talk all the trash he wants, but we all know he will never man up and get in the ring with Cotto.

I wish he backed his words with actions in the ring...

Should he step in the ring with above mentioned guys (probably exept Margarito... But should Floyd take the fight in the "cheating" period, he would have a lo-o-o-o-ong, terrible night) i would bet against him...

Funny how you haters seem to forget that Floyd already fought and beat the two best welterweights at the time -- Zab Judah and Carlos Baldomir. At the time he beat those two guys, Margarito was considered number 3, Cotto wasn't even a welterweight and Pac was at 122. But I guess in your mind those fights don't count just like the De La Hoya fight doesn't count. Arum could have pitted Cotto against Mayweather at 140 but he didn't because Cotto "wasn't ready" then. he would do no better now. Pacquaio doesn't even deserve as mention because he will get ko'd by Cotto, who will then get ko'd by Mayweather.

You mean like he did against Hatton? But I guess that doesn't count!
