Mosley-Berto Talks Positive, Fight Not Likely in 2009

Mosley would whip Berto's ass something terrible. I just hope he does it before the fight gets really ugly. We know Berto will try to clinch and Mosley will go along with it until it lasts. I don't know if this fight would be really exciting or not. But if Mosley is satisfied with it, then I want to see it. I've kind of lost interest in a Mosley-Williams fight now that Paul is probably going to be fighting Kelly Pavlik. I am still a little bit disappointed in Mosley's position when it comes to fighting Williams though. He says that there styles wouldn't match up very well, but as I mentioned above I think that the Berto-Mosley fight could get messy with a lot of clinching.Comment

Mosley's old man is one of the worst trainers I've seen, top boxer trainers anyway. In the first fights with Forrest and Wright, while Shane was far behind on the scorecards, he kept telling him "Relax, you're winning the fight!" and thus Mosley thought he didn't have to step up his game and he lost. Had Jack told him "You're way behind, you gotta move your ass and put some pressure on him, give it all you got!" I believe it would be different. He wouldn't lose by so much anyway.
Teddy Atlas had just the right approach with Moorer when he first fought Holyfield. Had he been there the second time who knows.Last edited by Benncollinsaad; 08-08-2009, 03:19 PM.Comment

You are absolutely right about that. I've never thought Jack Mosley was a good boxing trainer. I think it had a lot to do with Mosley's defeat to Cotto too, because Mosley's dad couldn't even keep track of what round it was. And as a result, Mosley didn't fight with as much urgency in the championship rounds as what he could have. Mosley still won 3 of the last 4 rounds though in my mind. The only one I gave to Cotto was the 11th. But he might have won all the rounds if he wouldn't have let his foot off the gas in the 11th and may have even stopped Cotto. We saw that same scenario in the Mayorga fight of where Jack Mosley kept loosing track of what round it was. I think a Cotto-Mosley rematch would be different now that Mosley has Richardson in his corner. But we probably won't see a rematch because of the Pacquiao factor.Mosley's old man is one of the worst trainers I've seen, top boxer trainers anyway. Cotto's got the youth advantage. Had Mosley met him 7 years ago, I believe he woulda won. But now he's just too old to beat him. To beat Cotto you gotta be 110% on for 12 rounds. Or 10 at least. You are absolutely right about that. I've never thought Jack Mosley was a good boxing trainer. What advantages do you feel like Berto has besides his youth? His inside game is horrible. And I can look back at some fights that tell me that I can pick up easy money betting on Mosley. Their respective performances against Collazo is a decent measuring stick. I also can't get that instance out of my head of where Berto got dropped hard by that journeyman Cosme Rivera. That glove incident didn't help Berto's image either. Hell, Alfredo Angulo and Zab Judah beat Cosme Rivera down. And Berto only outpointed him. Rivera took the Angulo fight on short notice, but it was still an impressive performance by Angulo and he beat him more decisively than Berto did.Comment

Jack Mosley and Papa Tito are the worst trainers ever when it comes to facing adversity. They can't adjust for anything. I don't care who Shane fights. He just needs to fight somebody like I said yesterday. Berto won't beat Shane. His inside game is horrible and his D isn't great either. Shane can beat Cotto if they ever fought again. It just comes down to having a gameplan and great stamina. A rematch can happen if Cotto beats Pac. I doubt Pac ever fights Shane. But Shane can have all three belts easily right now. The IBF and WBC are the fights he should go after. That would makke fights with Floyd or Cotto bigger.Comment
