Real Fighters to be considered ATG....and why.

1st off...all the threads and **** talking on here about this fighter is a ATG, this fighter is the GOAT, this fighter needs this fight to cement his status....ALL BULL....you either are, are you aren't.

#1 ATG/ GOAT = "Sugar" Ray Robinson......took on all comers.....fought anyone and everyone....didn't care at what weight (fought at 135lbs up to 165lbs). Yes he has Losses....but at least his greatness is not questioned.

#2 ATG/ GOAT = Muhammed Ali / Cassius Clay....Reminds me of a Floyd Jr....not style wise, but his persona. Difference is, he fought anyone who challenged him, and he fought anyone willing to fight him after calling them out. Again...yes he has Losses....but greatness is no questioned.

#3 ATG/ GOAT = Rocky Marciano...Probably the only one who had an undefeated record and an ATG. He was a heavyweight who was regulary outweighed by his opponents by 5-15lbs. 49-0 (43 kos)!!!!! Come one now...you can't question that.

    #4 ATG/ GOAT = Joe Louis....nuff' said...

#5 ATG/ GOAT = Julio Ceasar Chavez Sr......yes he fought ALOT of B/C class fighters early in his career, but who didn't? What matters is he fought everyone who challenged him, performed to the best of his abilities, left it all in the ring every fight, and was loved by his people. Never ducked anyone, never complained about "who was a draw", "not getting paid enough", etc...

Those are my top 5 fighters EVER.....if you would like to discuss or post your opinions....please do so.

IMO......VERY FEW in the "modern era" of boxing (1995-present) are capable of even making the ATG top 25 list. The very few that I am speaking of (again IMHO) are Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao, Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Jr.

Of course...all 4 have a couple of things more to prove...to themselves...not to us as fans...in order to be in the elusive ATG category.

Honestly how can you have Mayweather or Hopkins or Marquez in the top 25 ATG?

            Oscar De La Hoya

If he would of been a cherry picker like the so called ATG we have now, he would of been higher. He fought just about everyone. 6 Divisions being a champion in, isn't anything just anyone can do.

I agreed but Oscar De La Tota did cherry pick at times. He could have face Cotto and Margacheato and decided not to.

Boxing knowledge Mangler......we as fans (I know you are) know about all the great ones, whether by ear, actually seeing the fight, or reading up on. I would fall under the "by ear" category...pops' and all the uncles would always watch fights on TV and talk about the "good ole days" when boxing was boxing....BETA Tapes are actually lying around my grandfather's basement right now of fights....c'mon now...being on here to discuss boxing is not that important in my life as to create a "My Docs" folder....

But I do like to "hear" other peoples' opinions and takes on fighters and their status/ potential.

You know prime Oscar would of fought and destroyed both of them.

Mayweather - Still has time to validate his "self-proclaimed" ATGness....follow thru on his "wish list" and he'll get the nod from me.

Hopkins - Entering the much latter years of his career, but has been performing like a "hot prospect". His close Loss to Slappy proved that he can still mix it up against a very un-orthodox fighter. Dominating wins over Pavlik and Tarver impressed me.....his Losses against Taylor were understandable as Taylor (back then) was the "next big thing".

Marquez - You have to give it up to Marquez. Pacquiao was the best thing to happen to Marquez. If you put Pac on the ATG list...Marquez goes right behind him....their 2 fights alone are instant "classics"....Marquez has consistenly taken on younger (cept Casamayor), fresher competition and has dominated them in devestating fashioin (cept CJ). Battles against Barerra, and being ducked by other top fighters (Prince Nasim) goes to show that he is great.
