I keep reading people trying to defend Hatton as something above a C class fighter with statements like these. But look at how he lost to both of those P4P #1's. He got emberassed, you dont run into a ring post like that. Yea he only lost 2 times to the best because before his fight with Tszyu, his resume consists of nothing but no bodies. Some people call Hatton a bum but I dont think he is one, I look at him as a legit C class fighter and nothing more, I dont see any skill to admire in him. He has wins over good names like Tszyu, Collazo, Castillo, Lazcano, and Malignaggi. Notice how i said he has good names, not good wins. Tszyu was 35 years old, had only fought 3 times in the past 4 years before the Hatton fight, and never fought again after he lost to Hatton in a hug fest. The Collazo fight was ugly and some say he lost. We all know what version of Castillo he fought. Lazcano almost knocked him out in another ugly hug fest. And he was paired with a feather fisted fighter in Malignaggi to set the way for another mega fight he should have never been in. Seriously, I dont know how Hatton can say hes been in 2 24/7's, hes just not on the level of a mega fight, he makes so many fundamental boxing mistakes and I still saw them in the Malignaggi fight, thats why I didnt get caught up in the hype of this "new and improved Hatton" by pairing him up with Malignaggi, from the start I knew it was lights out for Hatton against Manny. I always thought his popularity was all hype in the states because of his huge following in Britain, hey got news for ya, this isnt Britain. Some people will bring up the fact that he is a 4 time champion in 2 weight divisions to defend their opinions on him. Its funny because these are the same people that call Zab Judah a bum. Like I said, I dont think Hatton is a bum and I think he can still make good fights with formidable opponents and I would actaully look forward to it, but Hatton is nothing more than a C class fighter with a name that has always been overrated.

Great post, I hate it when people tell me Hatton isnt overrated, The guy is wayyyyy overrated, He has a fight fans appealing style earlier in his career and i became a fan of his and attend 4 of his fights with my brother but apart from the tsyzu win he didnt do anything till he fought Paulie M.

I remember hearing how Mayweather was ducking Hatton and people kept harping on about it for years like hatton was tommy hearns or something, When the fight got made i was telling people how they would see the difference between class and hype in the ring and thats exactly what happen.

they keep saying the same comments i talked about in my first post

"he came up short against 2 ATG's" he came up pretty long if you ask me, getting checked into a ring post and getting blown out in 2.

"4 time champion in 2 weight classes and only 2 defeats'

i guess if david diaz were to beat urango for the ibf jr wlter title by punching then clinching for 12 rounds, then fight mayweather and get laid out in the 2nd round, hed be mentioned in the same breath as hatton, and apparently would be considered an A class fighter.

like i said before, if your want to know the reason why hatton only has 2 losses, look at his resume before tzsyu, he went 38-0 against no-bodies. take for example zab judah who is 37-6, cory spinks, carlos baldomir, miguel cotto, and joshua clottey all beat hatton. subtract those 4 and zab judah is 37-2. 3 time champion in 2 weight classes.

some people are talking about him as a person, i came on here to talk about him as a fighter. i didnt start this thread as a hate thread for hatton, i have no problem with him, i just have a problem with how overrated people speak of him.

There is nothing wrong with Ricky Hatton no matter what anyone says there will always be haters about him, he's a great lad, his public image is great and nothing anyone says on here won't change that! Sorry to so he is and always be a great fighter, there is nothing wrong with losing to the greatest fighter in the world!
