In terms of his spiritual healing and penitence yes.
For what he did prolly not.
I did feel for him during the movie.
Maybe the way I'm viewing Resto is the result of how God awful Lewis was handling himself but regardless, please don't tell me Resto isn't a very simple person. Whether English is not his first language or or he has trouble speaking through his sobbing. He is as basic as they come.

What does his inteligence have t do with anything?
He's Puerto Rican and obviously never leanred proper english.
He even admitted to getting wrapped with plaster and using the pill to open up your lungs in between rounds. Come on, that's REALLY horrible if you take off the padding + plaster thats just ridiculous.
He did his time though. He spent all this life thinking about it everyday. Trust me - if he can go back in time to change it - he would in a heartbeat. He's paid the price for it.
He was banned from boxing, his career went out the window - something he's worked hard for all his life and he has nothing to show for it. He went to jail and dealt with the guilt. While what he did was very horrible, you only live once and he has to really try to live past that. He's paid his price in a huge way. Would I forgive him? That was very a ****ed up act comitted but I feel he's price is paid .

My commenting on his intelligence is in response to an earlier post from someone saying Resto shouldn't be forgiven because he was smart enough to know what he was doing. I don't think intelligence should play a factor, but in the debate on whether or not Resto is a dumbass, IMO he very much is one.

This is pretty much I view the situation. Can't undo the past, but he's suffered as much as I'd be willing to ask anyone to suffer for something.
