The thread starter is a pinoy who asked in our lounge why pinoys are uglier than white and latino people. What an idiot who should be IP banned.

Most boxers have egos in general, Its the sport not the race that made them that way, Unless you're a manufactured fighter then you would have loads of ego when you're knocking people out.

And when some people generalise Black fighter why do they just talk about black american??? Black people or boxers are from all over the world especially african, and i havent seen that much ego coming from most of the black fighters from africa, People like Azumah nelson, Ike Quartey or Clottey arent known for having a huge ego.

I find that people with a big mouth use it to talk themselfs up talk them selfs into a place where they mentally cant let themselfs lose that or there just trying to get more people to come out and watch them fight.

              yep

What pisses me off about black fighters, American black fighters sorry, is that they seldom admit defeat when they lose on points. Even Tim Witherspoon, who I admire. In an interview I read it appears that he never even lost a fight! So the big ego thing is definitely there. Mexicans and Puerto Ricans are not much better however.

I think European fighters, both white and black, are much more gracious in defeat. It has something to do with their upbringing. They are not brought up "on the street". Most of them anyway.

The same reason McDonald's promotes the Big Mack in such glorying detail. Anybody can make a Hamburger but it'll be damn near impossible to create the Big Mack at home.

When Black fighters weren't considered the norm the fanbase rallied in a way that they don't anymore. Dominate Asians and Whites are somewhat scarce in the world of boxing therefore when one comes along their people rally around them like Blacks used to do and any minority group would do in any respectable sport or (competition).

The fact is Blacks have become so dominate in this sport specifically that many would be boxing fans (of all races) are just no longer interested in the sport let alone the fighters. Even Blacks take this current condition for granted as if it's the way it will always be.

So as a Black fighter you know that the Black fanbase isn't going to make you rich alone and as a business man you yourself need to do what is necessary to grab and hold the attention of a more universal (multi racial) fanbase.

The question then becomes "How do I make myself stand out" ? See people don't have to like you in order to pay you. Even if your paying just to see the undefeated **** talker get his ass whooped your helping them out.
What would the WWF have been without ego ?
A bunch of muscle heads slamming each other around.
It was the **** talking that made it exciting.

Some people have to sell an image to make money. Not everybody has a dazzling personality but it ain't hard to be an ******* and sometimes it's a more lucrative image to project....Look at ***ot ass Kanye West !!!

If I'm the baddest mutha***a around here I just may carry myself as the baddest mutha***a around here.
"You can play humble and mumble or you can be proud and loud"

These guys fight for a living. Since when did fighters have to carry themselves like big brothers. After all no matter what they say or do were all just waiting on their demise so we can say they ****** or were overrated.

That's cuz their in the trailer parks dummy...lol

You know I was gonna post this same thing but didnt because I felt this board couldnt handle a discussion like this. It was in response to floyd saying "If I was white I would be a bigger star". I was gonna co-sign that, but for different reasons. Being black and a star in sports is such a norm that blacks dont rally around our stars like they use to. For example, someone like Yao ming is huge because it's rare to see someone from chinese decent to be a star in the league. He literal has millions of fans that rally behind him. With black boxers, in case anyone hasn't noticed, no black fighter has had a huge fan base since I dont know when. When is the last time you saw a AA fighter with a huge fan base? Blacks just dont support our entertainers like they use to.

With that said these guys are in the business to make money. So since you cant get people to love you, you turn to the villian role and that **** sells. ***Warning what I'm about to say may offend people on here***. Look at boxers like Tyson, B-Hop, Floyd etc. None of these guys are racist but the play a certain role because the fan base in american that actually buys tickets and ppv's are intrigued by one particular role. This role is the uncontrollable, loudmouth, big bad negro that needs to be put in place. That's the reason they say certain things to piss people off because Middle america, Upper class whites and people with money love to hate blacks like that. The AA community won't come out to support them, so instead of depending on that to make sells, they say stuff to piss these whites and others of because they know these guys will pay top dollar in hopes on them getting their @ss kicked.

Thats why you heard b-hop with the I will never lose to a white boy comment.

Floyd dissing whites and there love for MMA

                      Tyson with his antics

These guys know that people with money will buy into this and it will boost ticket sells. Whether thats right or wrong that up for debate, but thats the truth behind the matter.

Still don't believe me, look at guys like Mosley, Dawson, Berto, Jones Etc. These guys have pretty much been the typical good guys in the sport, but there ticket sells are ****. Then compare these boxers to the guys that fit the steorotypical demonization of blacks that a lot of whites have...guys like Floyd and Tyson. There sells are through the roof. This may go over peoples head but you gotta realise that in America certain roles sell, while others don't. Most people are use to the submissive Negro. That's very normal and comforting to people which ='s boring. When you have the uncontrollable Negro that brings alot of attention and intrigue.

BTW sorry for the long a$$ type.
