Besides, who in their right mind would purchase tickets for a Haye fight now? Until that bell sounds, he could just as well do his back in whilst coming to the ring and call off the whole thing.

Europe is very different from the US. You guys have soccer above anything else and then maybe boxing. We here have too many varieties. We have pro football, baseball, basketball and a grip of other sports. The US life is fast paced, Europeans don't live as fast paced as us. You guys have less to do.

The last time British boxing was huge was because of Hatton, Lennox, Benn, Eubank and Calzaghe. I don't think Haye will ever reach the popularity of those 4, what with his silly antics over the past year and tendency to pull out of fights.

He's not a very endearing character, either. Granted, he does the mouthy Londoner thing, but I don't see it washing with everyone these days. Didn't they have to give away free tickets for the Barrett fight?

Even with the best promotional hype, there's no way he'd sell enough to make a Wembley date during these bad times... unless the tickets were very reasonably priced.

vegas and the garden are the home of boxing that's undoubtable but the arenas are small

why are the fights in the US never in bigger arenas? whereas in europe they hold them in football stadiums and get 50,000+ they hold them in 10,000 capacity arenas in the US. was talking about this with me mates yesterday and we couldnt think why. surely more fans=more money?

Like people said, Vegas will dish out a lot of money to have the fights. Wasn't always like this though. Around the times of Joe Louis, and those prior, they fought in baseball stadiums, like Yankee Stadium, which held 50,000. I guess now it's because boxing's popularity has waned since then. Now its good if you can sell out 16,000+ at MSG or the MGM Grand.

Seems odd especially when you consider American College Fotball games sell-out stadiums that are anywhere between 60,000-110,000 every week.

i agree hes a bit of a mouthy cuunt but still hes the first brit to fight for a world HW title, apart from danny williams, with any chance of winning since lennox. also UK fight fans actually like the klitsckos - theyre recognised as the best and seem like decent lads into the bargain so i think haye v one of them would generate huge interest - basically anyone who beats either of them can claim to be HW champ of the world so the fight will sell seats belive me. id want to go and i live 200 miles way

For one boxing just isn't that popular in the US unless it's a megafight. Another reason could be the high ticket prices. Maybe they've figured out it's more profitable to charge more for less seats in a smaller arena than vise versa. I believe there's also some money handed over from the casinos when fights take place in Vegas.
