I wish this fight get cancelled and team Pacquiao start negotiating with SSM.
Why do you call everyone who disagrees with you a nuthugger? That's what's called an ad hominem - which means launching personal attacks on people because you aren't capable of dealing with their arguments.

The fact is that most of the people posting in this thread who support the stand Cotto has taken are not Puerto Ricans; many are not even Cotto fans; and some are Pac fans. A couple of Pinoys have said they support the stand Cotto has taken - and much respect to them for that. But I suppose you think that Pnoys who disagree with you are Cotto nuthuggers as well.

No there is no range, only an upper limit of 147. Henry Armstrong only weighed 133lb when he won the Welterweight title.

But only when the defending champion agreed to it being for the title. It would be completely unprecedented for a defending champion to be forced to put his title on the line in a catchweight bout.

          • Again, Cotto himself didn't weigh in at 147lbs during the weigh in with Cottey, he weigh in at 146lbs while Cottey weighed in at exactly 147lbs, i don't remember anyone complaining about that, including Cotto. So why does it matter now, for 1lb, you've gotta be kidding me. And here's Cotto's quote from Bleacherreport.

"Its no concern of mine whether it is 145 pounds or not," Cotto said.

"That is the usual weight that we cut down to for the weigh in, and in the ring—on fight night—I will go up eight to 10 pounds, so actually during the fight I will weigh around 155," stated Cotto.
That's his usual weight when they cut down for the weigh in, at 145lbs, and it doesn't concern him. So why complain now.

Seriously do you even know about boxing??? yes cotto came in at 146 but he didnt have to overtrain or eat less by being pressured to weight at a certain limit, the only limit he had is 141-147 which is welterweight which he has ben doing it for years. Now if the fight is at 145 he has to work really hard to not go over it cause he can't. Now if he even wants to come in at 141 he can do so but hes giving the option to fight at welterweight limit not being tied down to a certaing weight which means less food equals weaker.

Now roach wants the title to be on the line if pac wins but if cotto wins he will not get it??? sounds to me they are doing the impossible to try buy the WW if they win sorta like how they bought the title from David diaz that was a complete mismatch lol. The only truth that is being showed is that pac is a big fraud.

              • Some of you people sound like catch weights for a title has never happen before--there's only two reasons wrong with the Pacquiao-Cotto bout: 1.) the crooked WBO wants the sanctioning fees and pushing for the title status and 2.) Cotto doesn't want his title on the line. The latter reason being the biggest cause for the commotion otherwise had Cotto agreed to it--there wouldn't be this much controversy. Period.

Why doesnt Pac just forght at the ww limit them instead of creating his own weight division? Since its only "1 pound" why does he have to do it?

Did you even read what i posted about Cotto saying that 145 is his usual weight that he weigh's in. So my point is, it is not a problem according to Cotto himself, so no, he's not going to overtrain himself. Period.

"Its no concern of mine whether it is 145 pounds or not," Cotto said.
