The lower the weightclass, the harder the jump. It's about percentages. The less you weigh, the more your body has to grow percentagewise to jump a weight class.

I think it's Welterweight to Middleweight. I think that's exactly where the line in physical strength and durability starts to show. You have to be a naturally big Welterweight to even consider moving up to 154 or 160.

        140-147 is huge.

Guys like Mosley and Margs and PWill are just obscenely big. I remember thinking Collazo was huge compared to Hatton and he is only a mid-sized Welterweight .

What do you think is the 'biggest' weight jump in boxing? Obviously Lightheavy to Cruiser (think Johnson/Dawson to Haye/Cunningham) and Crusier to Heavy are substantial so we can ignore those ones. I want to focus on the divisions below 175.

Let me highlight my point with a few examples:

Even though 168 -> 175 is a full 8 pounds I feel it's not actually that much of a jump in terms of competition. Froch, Kessler, Direll are examples of three fighters who I believe could make the jump fairly well and comete effectively there. Indeed, Pascal has recently captured the 175 WBC title after he was beaten by Froch for the 168 version.

In my opinion the biggest jump has to be 140->147. It's only 7 pounds but they have to be the biggest 7 pounds in boxing. Think about it: Bradely, Hatton, Malignaggi, Khan, Kotelnik, Holt etc... Then, only 7 pounds north we have the fearsome Clottey, Mosely, Williams, Margarito (as well as Hearns in the past). How long would a fight between Mosely and Malignaggi last? Not long I should think.... What about Williams Hatton? Or Khan v Hearns?

These match ups seem grotesque but only 7 pounds seperate them! I know there have been bigger LHWs and this is a week era for the divison but I hope you can see my point?

            Thanks, discuss.
I think Marquez jumping from Lightweight to Welterweight, ignoring LWW is a prime example. It would be a 12 pound jump at max.

The most prestigious title in boxing is heavyweight champion. The second would be WW
I agree with this. Welterweight always seems to be loaded with the best fighters or among the best fighters in the sport. As far as weight most divisions are separated by the same weight, other than going from cruiser to heavy.
