Pavlik/Williams: The Numbers Game Continues

Nobody is taking credit away from those victories (at least I don't), but Williams needs to get this idea out of his head that everybody is going to slurp his nut sack. I know that boxing is not a popularity contest, but Williams got booed in both of those fights despite winning them. The crowd was there to see Winky and Margarito. Not Williams. As far as who I think would win a fight between Williams and Pavlik, I've said time and time again that I think it's close to a toss up. Each guy has things that can work in their favor. But regardless of that, it looks like we're not going to find out because Paul is really delusional about what he brings to the table economically.Comment

Spanked? No, that was Pavlik. Williams lost, then avenged his loss. When will Pavlik avenge his loss to a 40+ year old man who throws 10 punches a round?I normally don't take up for Kelly (made excuses when Hopkins beat his ass, talked **** about the "Super Six" tourney, etc..) but for real ; I'd rather lose to a guy like Hopkins who is "All Time Great" with one of the best in ring IQ's of all time than get my ass spanked by a B level guy like Quintana while wearing a mowhawk.Comment

And why is it that Goosen is willing to play hardball with a bigger opponent like Pavlik, but is willing to accept peanuts against these smaller fighters like Margarito and Mosley? Margarito and Mosley are more established names than Pavlik, but I'm just saying. Is Williams ever going to get away from the cherry orchard and be a real champ?Comment

Great post man. Williams, or his handlers, need to accept reality. In spite of all the critical acclaim he receives he has yet to demonstrate he can put people in the seats, much less buy his PPVs. This is a business and if he ever hopes to gain some leverage in future negotiations he needs to fight and beat somebody like Pavlik. Its that or keep seeing your name in P4P lists while fighting in front of a couple of thousand people max. In other words, he still needs to pay his dues.Nobody is taking credit away from those victories (at least I don't), but Williams needs to get this idea out of his head that everybody is going to slurp his nut sack.
