The negotiations continue for a middleweight collision between Kelly Pavlik, the WBC/WBO middleweight champion, and Paul Williams, currently the WBO's interm-champion at 154-pounds. The two sides are still talking, which is good. The financial positions by both sides are still far apart, which is not good. The date of October 3 on HBO awaits. [details]

Williams is really acting like a punk here. It looks to me like he just doesn't want the fight and is pricing himself out. It's funny that after he lost to a C-level fighter in Quintana HBO didn't want anything to do with him. But once he avenged that loss HBO is back on his **** again. But they've just totally kicked Pavlik to the curb for losing to an all time great with an A+ boxing IQ. I was hard on Pavlik for not fighting Abraham, but this deal falling apart is somemthing he has zero control over. And as much as I can't stand Arum most of the time, he is being very reasonable here. -
WTF is with Williams and his team?
It's another possible title for Paul in another possible weight class.
Pavlik is the star at 160, and Paul isn't exactly known for his stellar fanbase.
He should take whatever they offer, then kick Kelly's ass, and then he'll be the guy who gets to make the demands.Comment

PWill and his team is at fault. PWill can not be considered avoided or ducked if he doesnt take this fight.Comment

I normally don't take up for Kelly (made excuses when Hopkins beat his ass, talked **** about the "Super Six" tourney, etc..) but for real ; I'd rather lose to a guy like Hopkins who is "All Time Great" with one of the best in ring IQ's of all time than get my ass spanked by a B level guy like Quintana while wearing a mowhawk.Comment
