I have been in Ali's presence four times in my life...spoke to him twice (including when that pic was taken)...being in his company in person is DIFFERENT than when u are with anyone else.... I have read where people said that being there next to him brought about a "different" kind of feeling, even people who previously thought they didnt even like him! I was in awe to a certain degree but also, as u can see in the pic, I quickly loosened up and by the time it was over I felt very comfortable...he was an amazing person to meet and speak to...and the next day-despite having met around 500 people the day before- he remembered me when he saw me again and personally walked over and acknowledged me....amazing...

It will be huge news cause he is a big name... but not as big news as the MJ... well it will be to us but not the general public. It would be a big day though, a very sad day... for the fans and for Boxing, to be honest I don't even wanna think about it.

You must of been proud just to have met the guy even once, I know I would of... and to a degree I kinda agree with what you said... with the MJ accusations about child ******ing a lot of people were saying some nasty stuff about him after he died... Ali hasn't had any of this kinda stuff so there is no reason for anyone to be negative about it... not that there was for MJ but you get what I am saying, truth is... you could be right, a lot more people might feel sad about it.

certain people will classlessly label Ali a coward and draft dodger but it will be a knee jerk reaction by people who have NO IDEA what they are talking about.

              red k asswipe

              To the TS:
I was thinking about this about a week ago. It would be huge, I'm pretty sure just as big if not bigger than Michael's death. Everywhere you go, in restaurants, dentist's offices, you see the iconic pic of him standing over Liston victorious. He embodied the fighter, a man who knew how to win and would go to great depths to be the last man standing. His first fight with Frazier was probably the biggest sporting event of the twentieth century, the third fight was probably the greatest boxing match of all time. So many other classic fights with George Foreman, Ken Norton, Cleveland Williams, Ernie Terrell, Earnie Shavers. And now in recent years how bold he has been in handling his disease. Even if he lives to old age, it will be a shocking and saddening day when he passes.

Ali was involved in the civil rights movements, anti-war groups, and the nation of islam with malcolm x, his popularity in the 70's made him more famous than during the 60's.

i believe this will be all over t.v, although during MJ's death many people still thought he ''******ed'' those kids, and ever since his rep has been destroyed.

Ali's rep was not, he fought for civil rights, he spoke against the war, and adressed everyone to clarify that islam was not a bad religion (many americans back then believed islam was a religion of terrorism).

Ali might not be in the spotlight like before, but he's still attending award shows, programs etc with his family.

When he dies, the world will definitely cry.

norton, by a ****** close split decision, then after ali wooped his ass TWICE.

joe beat him in the 1st fight, but then ali wooped him TWICE.

leon spinks beat him, then ali (not in his prime) beat spinks and regained the title.

henry cooper dropped him, but ali managed to get back and destroy him.

your a fucking dumb ass noob.

But he didn't speak against EVERY war. Just against those wars that were not ordered by Allah. This is clearly worked out when he was convicted of draft evasion.

The Supreme Court dropped the case because of a technicality, but this "Allah's war" thing never got cleared up.
