I understand your opinion, and there's loads of reasons behind it, but I think even the americans know when enough is enough, also this time would be different in loads of aspects, first of all Dawson has already faced true opposition in Johnson and Tarver, Lacy hadn't, even though you can argue that they are over the hill but I strongly doubt that the americans would be able to keep up excusing their loses.
Furthermore the beating of Jeff Lacy couldn't do anything than lead to speculations that he might have been too hyped, I can agree with that on some points. I don't think the beating Dawson would take if he lost, would be half as bad as the one Jeff took, so I don't think the loss automaticly would become as big as upset as the Jeff Lacy fight. I think, that Dawson held the key to american respect - they've lost too many young prospects lately to write off such a big name as Dawson. I think every factor points in that direction.
Max Kellerman pointed it out too in the postinterview with Joe after the RJJ fight. I really think Dawson was the last brick of Rome.
