Man I don't know what to make of this, I really wanted Calzaghe to have finished with Chad Dawson, it's like his legacy really needs it. He had more to prove to me, even though I feel like one of his biggest foreign fans.
I dont think a win over Chad Dawson would mean anything to Calslappys career ...it would just mean another win over another unbeaten young fighter..and as most dont give him Calslappy credit for beating other young unbeated world tittle holders ...what would be the point in beating another one that he wouldnt get no credit state side for !?
I wasnt a huge fan of Calslappys fussy style ...but you got to give him his props !

It would be interesting. But I will say cruiser is devoid of real talant, and heavy is to much for him. Joe was a good fighter, but best to stay retired, leave his record intact, and let the fans speculate. Jmo.

Would be good for boxing if Calzaghe came back and moved up to heavyweight.Imagine how big Calzaghe Haye would be or Vitali as well

I think it would, America would once again have lost a young undefeated primefighter. So unless they would start saying that all their fighters are overrated and hyped, I think a win over Chad Dawson would be the key to respect amoung American boxing fans. Plus Chad has proven more already than Jeff Lacy had when he faced Calzaghe.
Furthermore he would prove to the rest of the world that he was the absolute best at SMW and LHW, because he would infact have beaten every mentionable opponent - You cannot deny that, can you?

I am not sure it would buddy...Lacy was more hyped and acclaimed than Dawson...and the Americans are such a cynical lot to say the least... they gave calzaghe more chance of surviving a firing squad than beating Lacy ...you know if you do a search on this site some of its oldest posters was saying Lacy would stop Calzaghe in under four rounds... reading back through some of those old posts/predictions they are cringe worthy reading now days lol
And i think you could safly say the same thing if he fought Dawson....if he beat Dawson ...the excuses would be that Dawson hadnt fought nobody or he lost that Glenn Johnson fight or Tarver was washed up etc
Like i said i didnt outwardly like Calzaghes style but i do respect him !
