i can't believe people still don't understand this.

any limit set between 140-147 is still a welterweight bout. thus belts can be on the line....

147 is the MAXIMUM LIMIT for a welterweight bout...
yea you right it's the maximum but it's also supposed to be the MINIMUM, you're not supposed to come in underweight nor overweight yo it's the same on both sides. fighters MAKE WEIGHT right? they need to make the weight of their division and if you're in the Welterweight class then your weight that you are obligated to make is 147, not 146 or 148 but 147 (unless there is a contractual agreement stating otherwise), I can see you understand that you can't be over that weight but you **** that up by ASSUMING you can just be underweight if you feel like it... the HEAVYWEIGHT division is the only OPEN class in boxing, where you can be 5-100 pounds bigger or smaller than your opponent as long as you're 200 pounds at the very least.. you don't HONESTLY believe that a scrap with a guy that's 141 pounds against a guy whos 147 is a legitimate Welterweight bout with 2 legit Welters, even less if it's a championship fight...

fighters can come in lighter than the weight limit (thus, the term weight LIMIT)

and yeah, a fight between a 141lb guy and a 147lb guy is a legit welter weight bout.

is this so hard to understand?

I hear your logic but you're still wrong man, 141 don't make you a WW, 148 don't make you a SWW, 155 don't make you a Middleweight.. haven't you ever heard of a fighter coming in underweight man? if he's allowed to do that then it wouldn't even be noteworthy. fighters are supposed to make their weight, there isn't no gap of 6 pounds that make up the WW division, 147 makes the Welterweight division, it'll take more than just a pinky swear from you to convince me otherwise..
