Solution: Cotto comes in at 146 at official weigh in. What are team pac going to do? FIXED.
Yeah but if you wanted the belt, why would you handicap your opponent and tell them not to weigh more than 145.
You seriously can't guess why?I think team pac real concern is Cotto coming in at 160 on fight night, so in return they make this CW as low as they can to lower the chances of that happening. IMO I think it's a fair trade-off for how much Cotto will be making. Oh, but I see that not the problem right? It's the integrity of the sport that's the real issue right? Give the man the free will to weigh 146 or 147 if he so chooses to.This is a ***** move on Cottos end. Thats right."I'm going to signed this here contract to fight you Manny at 145,but I won't let you fight me for my beloved paper belt that I fought so hard for"
i can't believe people still don't understand this.

any limit set between 140-147 is still a welterweight bout. thus belts can be on the line....

147 is the MAXIMUM LIMIT for a welterweight bout...
Again, the issue IS that Cotto won't have the free will to weigh 146 or 147.

People....Cotto will weigh in at 146 come official weigh in night. All problems and will be solved. Pac will win and when they announce it Michael Buffer will say something like this: ( Read the awesome sig)

You guys are ridiculous bitching about what can and cant be done. The fighters and promoters are going to do what the **** they want, and they honestly dont care what you think. Unless of course they think it will affect PPV sales, which in this case it wont. So shut up and prepare to enjoy a great fight between two great fighters.

agree with this. cotto's belt is gonna worth jack **** if he losses to pacquiao, even at 145 pounds.

this being a title fight gives pac the opportunity to make history.. cotto might as well put the belt in the line

Put it on the line because his opponent (Pacquiao) notice I said opponent, Pacquiao is no better then anyone else, wants to make history? So freaking what?! I don't give 2 ****s, simple, 145 no belt, 147 belt. People are acting like Cotto is the problem, Pacquiao is!

like i said, it happened before. it is the exact same thing as chavez-whitaker.

stop acting like this fight being at 145 and for cotto's belt breaks any rules, or something that has never been done before.

What we should be talking about is Pacquiao agreeing to 147, none of this would have happend if he did. What I'm also saying is, because Pacquiao is gonna make history, he should have everything go his way?

MANNY AND COTTO COME IN AT 145 EACH IN WHAT IS CALLED A WELTERWEIGHT BOUT BECAUSE THEY BOTH CONTRACTUALLY AGREED. this is ****in ****** I can't even believe I'm having this conversation with you man it's so ****in obvious man, 105, 108, 112, 115, 118, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140, 147, 154, 160, 168, 175, 185 and 200 are all weight LIMITS that must be met depending on your weight division, ever heard the term "the fighter made the weight"? that means he met his weight class limit on the weight in date and can fight, now AFTER the weigh in he can gain or lose whatever he likes but he can't show up at 141 and expect **** to still go down unless the contract allowed him to do that..

when you meet a fighter in between a weight class that is referred to as a catch weight, since there is no such thing officially as a catch weight in terms of being a weight class by itself they target a weight, for instance Cotto-Pacquiao is at 145 but they call it Welterweight anyways, why? because for 1 fight that's going to be the weight limit for them, that's what they are training for and since it's closer to WW on paper that's how it goes down but 141-146 is a catch weight while 140 and 147 are REAL recognized weight divisions in Boxing. this is insane that YOU, calling yourself a fight fan, would dispute this with me as not a fact, absurd..
wow dude you don't know **** about boxing.

i would prefer this fight to be at 147.

the point im trying to make here is that by putting the belt on the line, even at 145lbs, this fight can get more hype, cause it is a chance for boxing history. do you think cotto's belt is gonna mean anything if he losses to a guy he's gonna outweigh by at least 10lbs? might as well put it on the line.

just wanna tell you bitching idiots that this fight being at 145 and being for cotto's belt is not something special. pac would not be the first one, so stop saying pac is getting special treatment or something.

                  know boxing history before bitching...

Not if Cotto can't weigh in at the 47' limit.

                    45' null and voids it.
