Pacquiao vs Cotto: What Outcome Would Be Most Beneficial To Boxing?

A great fight and possible rematch is the best thing for boxing! Imagine Cotto wins a brutal war and then Pac wins the highly anticipated rematch. Then the stage for a Mayweather fight will be even bigger.

A Pacquiao victory would likely lead to a match with Mayweather, undoubtedly the biggest boxing fight in decades. Cotto-Mayweather wouldn't command the same attention because of Cotto's recent blunders with Margarito and Clottey. Cotto will certainly stick around longer if he wins as Pacquiao is nearing retirement. Bob Arum can extract more PPV fights out of Cotto if he beats Pacquiao.

The world will finally meet Cotto and see all the struggles he's been threw and fall in love with him. They can take the same good vs evil scenario and still break PPV records with a Cotto Vs Mayweather fight. Cotto being good of course.

No doubt that Cotto-Mayweather will be huge but Pacquaio-Mayweather would be far bigger IMO. The current undisputed P4P#1 against the former #1, a fight that everyone has been discussing since Mayweather decided to return. Pacquiao's recent performances overshadows what Cotto has done. Manny has had a much better build-up to land a fight with Mayweather, assuming he gets past Cotto.

I hope the Cotto dudes dont take this wrong......but a Pac win is the best thing for boxing right now......it sets up the fight with Floyd which is the BIGGEST fight in the world of boxing right now!!!......I like JMM and Cotto but they're standing in the way of THE FIGHT that has EVERYBODY talking and debating!!......with that said I got Cotto by KO but I wouldnt mind gettin' this one wrong tho'

tell that to floyd who announced he was fighting jmm the same day of pac vs hatton. jmm and cotto being in the way is nonsense cuz all floyd had to do was wait till the next day and he and pac would be fighting in nov. its floyds fault him and pac aint fighting next.

My thoughts:

* Either would be good as they're willing to take on the best

* A Mayweather/Pac showdown would be huge for boxing whereas Mayweather/Cotto would merely be big

* White America more readily identifies with Cotto and they are the biggest market

* Cotto isn't about to retire unlike Manny Pacquiao

* Pac is the more exciting fighter
