why not ??? kotelnik gave madaina way more problems than ortiz could,granted victor knocked him down a few times,khan is champion...if u ask me ortiz should stay well clear of amir....

Maidana isn't just going to be as durable as Kotelnik, the pressure he brings is a lot more rugged and intimidating than that of a counter-puncher having to force the fight, he punches harder and he has an iron will. Khan isn't going to be bringing the kind of power required to discourage him, so he'll need to be flawless for the whole 12 rounds. If he disregards his jab at any point with Maidana (the way he appeared to me to do at points against Kotelnik), he'll pay for it.

Did you watch Kotelnik-Maidana? Maidana gave Kotelnik more problems than Khan in terms of damage inflicted and a gruelling fight. And the decison was disputed. Khan had too much class for Kotelnik, but he didn't punish him especially.


Similar story with Ortiz, with the emphasis more on skill than will, his power can punish any gaps he finds in Khan's D. The Maidana loss/quit has left him looking vulnerable, but Amir's stick and move style isn't one that would daunt Ortiz in anything like that way.



I'd like to see Khan get some more experience first, it's just finding the right matchups to bring him on to that level.
Last night was excellent, accomplished, but not as near to immaculate as it needs to be before he starts mixing in that brutal company.
