The Roy Jones i faced was not punch drunk, roy never gave me a rematch either but i can live with that. Your Bernard Hopkins and Glen Johnsons of the world are leagues apart.

Fair enough. I thought you didn't want the rematch either though. I've heard the rematch not happening was both of your faults.

Roy can say what he likes, after i beat Trinidad i constantly called for the fight. He wanted 60-40 or no fight, who had he beat? he was fighting stiffs at light heavyweight and priced himself out of the fight.

Now today he wants the fight but he wants to do it 50-50, i dont need Roy now and even if we fought no way would he get 50/50 today when he hasnt beaten a real fighter for 6 years.

No offense but Roy is still a bigger attraction and the more entertaining fighter.

Who do you want next then?

I dont look to fight anyone, in boxing you just take fights which presents themselves.

The only fight i truly want is the Calzaghe rematch but we know how that goes, i've offered Adamek the fight, Froch and some other people but you got to know im not fighting on showtime or any network other than HBO, Showtime has made the tournament to sell euro fighters to the US market.

Hopkins does best against plodding fighters who aren't as active (Tito, Pavlik, Tarver) but struggles to win rounds against active fighters who throw a lot of punches (Taylor, Calzaghe). Dawson is not plodding and he throws a lot of combinations. Hopkins would more than likely lose a close UD and complain about the result.
Pavlik, Tito, and tarver not active? Those guys throw more than Taylor. And Pavlik wa sknown to throw at least 80 punches a round.

And Hopkins managed to chop his workrate in half when they fought.

If he can do it to Calzaghe, he can do it to Dawson ; a lesser fighter overall, with much less experience, and a much lower output.
Thats true. But Dawson is also accurate and punches way harder than Joe.

Dawson is smarter than Pavlik and fights a different style. I think you have to look at the Taylor fights for Bernard's blueprint to beating Dawson. If Hopkins throws more and clinches more (as you suggest), he would have a great chance against Dawson. If Hopkins is complacent and throws one at a time, he will lose.
I think Dawson is a decent fighter, but he's not on the level that people hype him up to be. The fact that you don't view this fight as a blow out for either guy shows how objective you are about this potential match up though. So props for that. But people who think Dawson should be heavily favored in this fight don't know how to analyze match ups. Dawson has a horrible weakness of not defending well against straight right hands, and there's a good chance that Hopkins would feed off of that. And even though Hopkins lost to Calzaghe and Taylor by close margins, Dawson lacks the aggressiveness and the go-get-it attitude that those guys did. I think Hopkins would stop Dawson or win a comfortable UD. I also think Glen Johnson will take Dawson back to hell again regardless of who wins that fight.
