He is in my mind, undoubtedly, the most athletically giften fighter of all time!!! Hands down. Some of the stuff he did was supernatural and I couldn't believe it. He was my all time favorite fighter to watch in his prime but in no way will he go down as the GOAT. Not even close. Unfortunately, due to the level of his comp, no fault of his own for the most part, he doesn't have the resume. His biggest wins were against a before prime BHOP and James Toney which I give him tremendous credit for. I give him credit for the heavyweight fight but John Ruiz wasn't a world beater and was a safe fight for him. His resume has more bums on it during his prime than almost any top fighter that I've ever seen. When he was P4P he fought guys like Richard Hall, Frazier, Otis Grant, an extremely old McCallum, Del Valle and the list goes on and on. There weren't a lot of top fighters in his division so I can't knock him too much but the Calzaghe fight should have happened. He struggled and got beat by Tarver who in my mind was always overrated but even a prime Roy would have struggled with that style as well as Glenn Johnson. I love Roy. I was devastated when he got KO'd by Tarver but I can't rate someone the best on talent alone. That being said I do think he is the most talented but not most skilled. Guys like Floyd, SRL, and SRR had more learned skills. Roy relied purely on athletic talent and speed and was always prone to getting caught. He just never really faced anyone that could do it. And when he slipped a little he was done at the top level.Comment

No matter what you say you'll only say that hes not because you like another boxer. But seriously 20yrs from now he will be known as the Greatest of all time. Same thing happen to ALI when he was still fighting. Oh,...
and old school fighters are nothing compared to new school so dont be ******.

He outclassed a prime much more technically skilled James Toney with his incredible natural abilities....there has been no other fighter with the natural talent he possessed at one time.Comment

Roy Jones Jr was incredibly physically gifted. He had phenomenal atheltic ability. However with that being said, he had no brains. He had incredible speed, power, and agility. Things that make great athletes great in their prime. What makes great athletes great out of their prime is technicality otherwise known as Smarts. Roy had zero in that category. Which is why when age deminished his speed, power, and reflexes he began to faulter in his career.Come on guys hands down. He is the fastest most accurate most skillful most of everything. Ali's problem was he knew nothing but head hunting. He didn't throw body shots and he never mixed it up. When people caught on to that outboxing, straight headhunting(straight punch head hunting). He was simple to get used to. Jab x10 then a right straight isn't spectacular, that is basic boxing. What made Ali great was he moved like a lightweight but was a heavyweight, which was uncommon in those times. Not out of the ordinary now.
Also you can compare the past to present but in doing so on Boxing Scene people get rediculously biased towards the past. Thinking jab x10 to right cross is the best **** ever. But if you show them an amatuer doing the same **** and say he will be the best ever, they will look at you like your ******.Comment
