The problem is that a lot of the young fighters are not paying there dues. There just making fast money and when a great fighter offers them a chance, they feel they're the draw. Fighters like Mosley, JMM,Cotto, Hop, Pac, Floyd, Morales, and Barrera all had to pay there dues and gain fans. They weren't making the big bucks when they first started. But they fought and tried to prove to the world that they were elite. Once they did the money came.

Why not go to Europe and fight? If that's where the $$$ is, I'd say make the fight. I think it helps the ww division and Berto, in particular, to fight outside the North America. If I was Berto's manager/promoter, I'd try to get exposure in Europe (especially Germany) and try to garner a fan following over there. Boxing is thriving over in Germany and as a result fighters get paid more...

I'm not sure that the Mosley that showed up in the Margarito fight is the one that'll show up in any future fights. I think Mosley is more in line with how he fought against Mayorga.

Mosley had everything going for him in the Margarito bout

A). Margs chin was softened up by Cotto
          B). Plaster Scandal

And he took advantage of it. Mosley is past it, and is being overrated here on NSB at this point of his career. I think Berto should take whatever is being offered and beat Shane to become the man at WW. From there, a Cotto fight would be huge and attractive in 2010 (towards the end, assuming they both keeping winning)

With Mosley's age he needs to get a fight lined up soon though. Maybe fight a lower level opponent (Cintron?) then wait for pac/ mayweather/ cotto winners?

It's being reported (in another thread) that Shane will face top ranked contender Josh Clottey this fall. That's good matchup if any...

What HBO should do is pull their offer off of the table, have the fight take place in an actual arena where they have to sell tickets, and let the two fight where winner takes 60-40 split of the live gate.

This way, Shane could make $60, Berto would earn $40 for his first loss, and they could both realize their fair market value for future fights.

I Kind of agree with most of this except that i really don't see Berto as a guy beating the Mosleys and Cottos at WW, i think he's extremely overrated.

First he blantanly ducks Paul Williams, then he dissed a Cotto rematch, by sayng rematching Cotto is a step backwards and now this?

                      Sad really!!!!!!!!
