I know Pacquiao has been ripped into for his socks comment but I'm not questioning his heart or abilities. He is a great fighter that I love to watch. But is the hand an excuse or was it actually broken. I didn't see where it happened if it did.

The only person who can answer your question is Pac himself. Try reading his interview at KO magazine where he was the cover. He stated that he hurt his hand during/after the first round and believed that a flyweight could hit harder than him during the rest of the fight. He then had to change plan after he knew he can't knock Marquez anymore. He thought that if he doesn't get KO he will win the fight. Like most boxers do during a fight, he had to hide that he hurt himself.

I personnally believe Pacquiao on this coz at the start of the 2nd round people thought JMM had figured him out so suddenly.

JMM knows this that's why he backed out of a rematch or get lotsa money for his retirement.

Why everytime pac-man's name gets brought up reguarding a fight barrera always gets mentioned? is that really the only big named fighter he's beaten? Just looked at his recorded on boxrec.com and i really didn't notice to many names on the resume I mean with 50 fight under him anyone should be able to recognize more than 5 names on the list.

          These facts compliment each other.

          1. When Pac's wraps was removed, his left hand was seen to be swollen. X-Ray showed it got sprained.

          2. Pac's foot was seen by the reporters to be blistered.

          3. Marquez opted to price himself out of a fight he is supposed to take easy. Why did he do that? Answer: Marquez knows something that we don't. Marquez felt something that we didn't. And that thing that he felt could be: Pacquiao wasn't even 100% and he got knocked down 3 times, got his nose broken, and despite being a perfect counter puncher, only managed to land 10 more punches than Pacquiao.

Pac's hand was really swollen. It was broadcasted here in the philippines directly after the fight. Pac was interviewed still in his boxing shorts and he was crying, saying he could have performed better if not for the hand. He showed it off-it was really swollen. Now, try punching something with a sprained hand. The swollen part of his hand was just above his wrist. But.................. a fight is a fight.... It's not like Pac punched a brick wall to have caused that. It was JMMS head. So it's still a fair fight for me. Every factor counts.

Pacmans left hand was sprained not broken, but badly swollen when he showed it to the press after the fight. Not an excuse, but plain and simple truth.

I thought he had a hairline. I recall roach saying that Manny was taken to the hospital and he was diagnosed with a hairline fracture. I know I read this somewhere. Anyway I was at the post fight interview and noticed Pac's hands were badly swollen. I wondered how he was able to punch. Anyway ish happens in a course of a fight and Marquez survived fair and square. It's the rematch I can't wait to see.

nice post... the third point could very well be the best reason IMO for marquez to back out, but i don't think he really chickened out because he was scared. he trained intensively as early as november, and trained hard as the press have written. it's all about money IMO. put your self in his position, do you want to be beat by powerful punches and only get some spare change??? i don't think so... but what the heck, bottomline is, he backed out... end of story...
