I truly hope this fight doesn't come off.

The first fight was HORRENDOUS. Why would anyone want to see a rematch ?

I wouldnt pay a nickel to see it. Their is no need for a rematch, the first wasnt exciting or compelling enough to make a demand for it.

I thought Mayo won the first fight (even with the 2 points deducted) so there is no reason for me to think a different outcome will come of this fight. Mayo wins, maybe even KO's him since Spinks will be weary coming back from his first KO loss.

          Go in detail?

          At 147:

Mayorga possessed some of the best power in the division, yet he was unable to hurt spinks.

Provided that Spinks would maintain his normal speed at 154, how could Mayorga do anymore damage then he already had done?

Mayorga is a slower and doesnt possess any heavy hitting power at 154. Not to mention, he only had 1 fight their.

What leads you people to believe Mayorga could beat Spinks this time around?

Spinks would be just as fast and Mayorga would be slow and powerless.

Have you people not watched Mayorgas last 3 fights?

On top of that, Zab would kill Mayorga.

Mayorga was tailor made for anybody who can box with speed. Zab broke down Spinks with boxing and fast movements. MAYORGA HAS NONE OF THIS! Mayorga loops his punches and with head and body movement he will miss.

Sure hang onto the last thread of this hopeless Gatekeeper, but he will go nowhere. Mayorga is finished.

I am not being harsh because I like Spinks, but I dont favor Mayorga against any top fighter at 147-160. He hasnt looked impressive and hasnt brought his power with him. For Christs Sake, Mitchell wasnt even effected by Mayorga.

Tend to agree with SpinksJinx on this one. The only reason people are picking mayorga is because he is a puncher and people think he is more exciting than Spinks. Cory beat him before at 147, i think it wasn`t as close as the scorecards suggested. Don`t know if Spinks will be better at 154, i don`t think he will chnge much but if you look at Mayorga`s stop start career of late and the fact that this guy is rarely in the gym and drinks beers at weigh ins I think Spinks is a more respectful professinal and Mayorga hasn`t shown anything to suggest that he can beat Spinks in a rematch!

I think a Spinks/Mayorga matchup will always be the same fight, no matter what weight it's at. One fighter dancing, and pitty-pattering the other guy while the other guy tries to land just one solid punch on the dancer. As boring as it gets.

I can't stand Spinks...not because he isn't a good boxer (he is), but because he refuses to stop moving long enough to set down on his punches and generate some power, because he doesn't want to take the chance of getting hit. He's pretty lanky and almost certainly could hit with decent power if he wanted to, and could make for some great fights, but he's a chicken-**** and doesn't want to risk it. That's his choice, but I'll never be able to tolerate his ring performances until he does. And what really makes it ****** is that he's going to get hit anyway. Nobody can dance for 12 rounds without slowing down a little, and a patient fighter, with good speed and power, is almost certainly going to catch him with a good shot or 3 later in a fight, which is precisely what happened to him against Judah.

You like sluggers and not boxers, the sport is to hit and not be hit. Whether Spinks is knocking guys out, he touches his glove against their body and doesnt get hit. Thats the name of the game and that is how it is scored. The true science isnt knocking guys out, that isnt what boxing ever intended to be.

No, I like a fighter who can box, but is willing to risk slowing down and adding power to his shots when the chance arises. What I don't like is a boxer who runs for 12 rounds, throwing light jabs and right hands that could almost be called feints, hoping for a decision. And what's really annoying about Spinks is that he was willing to show some power when he was fighting guys at far lower skill levels. Check his record. The guys he KO'd were mostly chumps, and he knew he could risk slowing down and putting more on his punches because he probably wouldn't be hit anyway.

Like I said, it's his choice to fight that way, but as long as he does, the only reason I'll ever watch him fight is for the chance to see him get knocked on his ass.

Ali was notorious for using footwork to outwork his opponents same goes for Leonard. Nothing different with Spinks.

Hmm Ali, Leonard and SPINKS?, Dont belong in the same sentence. Spinks struggles with B fighters like Mayorga, the other two are Hall of Famers.....
