there are few name fighters at 154 that would command an audience against a fighter like him. this is a smart move for him. i'm not sure he wins though. the first one was very close and Mayorga wasn't on.

At 154, with Winky and Tito already fighting each other, there's not too many high-profile opponents for Spinks. Fighting an Ouma or Verno Phillips or Kofi Jantuah is still an undercard match.

I can see Don King matching him up against Eric Mitchell as well...

All you people are crazy, Mayorga couldnt knock Spinks out at 147 where he was a power house. At 154 Mayorga shows no power at all, If Cory brings his speed it is just the same as the first fight. Dont get your panties in a twist because Zab was able to knock Cory out. Zab actually boxed, Mayorga will slug and Cory will tap at Mayorga to win points.

Dont kid yourself, this was said during the first fight. Mayorga hasnt looked good since his wins over Forrest. His only fight at 154 was against Eric Mitchell and Mayorga looked like garbage, he didnt even look a bit impressive against Tito and if he did it was because Tito made him look good.

Mayorga doesnt have **** on Spinks at 147 let alone 154, where he has no power.

Every top level fighter at 154 has strong chins and are boxers with credible speed. On top of that they are southpaws. Mayorga wont be nothing at 154 or 160 not even at 147. Mayorga will be a gatekeeper for the up and comers. Mayorga hasnt looked good in atleast 2 years.

If Jantuah probably the hardest hitting 154 pounder today couldnt knock out Ouma. Their isnt any possible way a powerless Mayorga can, especially with the chins in that division.

To top it off, the last highlight you might see of Mayorga is against Vargas in which I favor even him at 154 against Mayorga.

This guy is damaged goods.
