Jermain Taylor to train with Ronnie Shields?

    ***EDIT 7/28/09***
Taylor is going to Houston to train at George Foreman's training camp.

Taylor was quoted the other day as saying he would be training in Houston for the Abraham fight, leading me to wonder who he might be training with there after he expressed some dissatisfaction with his corner following the Froch fight. He has been training in Miami since leaving Steward and has a condo down there, so unless he's just relocating camp to avoid the Miami police who arrested him in May, I've got to assume he's working with a Houston-based trainer.

Ronnie Shields is based in Houston and trains Dominic Guinn, another Arkansas native and good friend of Taylor's.

Can anyone fill me in on Shields' quality as a trainer? He's worked with some big names but barring a return to Pat Burns, Shields is not the kind of big name trainer most fans were looking for Taylor to bring in.

This is just speculation, though... if anyone knows of any other Houston based trainers that would make likely candidates, chime in.

Didn't hear about him training in Houston. That would be an odd pairing if it came off, I think. Dunno what to make of it really.

Taylor should have hired Roger or Floyd Mayweather Sr. years ago. I believe they both could have turned him into a legit BEAST.

Other than boxing training I think JT should hire a good personal trainer for him to have stamina and endurance during the fight.

A good personal trainer will help him put extra effort as well as inspire him to work harder.

His local newspaper mentioned that he would be training in Houston and then moving camp to Germany three weeks prior to the fight.

Ronnie Shields i assume would be the guy down here in houston. Kenny Weldon is another name trainer down here but he hasnt done much lately and i think hes been mainly working with amateurs.

Ah, does Jermain get a lot of press in Little Rock? Did he get any negative after the Froch fight?
