Under regular boxing rules Calzaghe would be disqualified due to excessive punching with the inside of his glove.

Why no one seems to enforce the regular boxing rules nowadays beats me. I'm sure Mills Lane would hate slaps.

i think a lot of people are mistaken if they think calzaghe will try to lay on toney's chest and just try to outwork him while toney does that shoulder role thing, that wouldn't happen. calzaghe is an excellent boxer and people tend to forget this, he would not go toe to toe and trade licks with toney, he wont fight toney the same way he fought hopkins or jones because toney doesn't have the footwork jones or hopkins has and is rather flat footed. calzaghe will be on his toes and try to box him.

Toney lost to Drake Thadzi. That's an important point to consider. Calzaghe lost to no man.

That was kinda my point. Its not so much who Toney lost to, its more the fact that he could turn up one night and be the best fighter on the planet then turn up in his next fight looking distinctly average. On his best night, his style would give Calzaghe nightmares but on his lesser nights, Calzaghes workrate would trouble him.

                pretty simple answer imo.
Pretty wrong too. I'm looking for a response on this thread that says Toney would win because he's American. I mean, it couldn't possibly be because this is a man who defeated McCallum, Nunn, Johnson, Jirov, even Holyfield, right?

Either would be pretty poor reasoning since none of those guys fight like Calzaghe.

That's like saying Calzaghe would never beat Toney because none of the guys he ever fought have his style.

The point I was making (which flew over your head) is that I believe the people who are picking Toney are doing it based on merit, not where he's from.

Joe can't see right hands..and his head is ALWAYS in the same place.

Tony would land on him like rain on a tin roof.
