name all the fights that didn't happen because of weight negotiations.

      list them.

catchweights have been going on since forever in boxing.

it's no different than the discussions about ring size , type of gloves , ring entrance , etc.

Seriously, don't we have enough weight divisions so two fighters can agree on a weight? Why the hell should we even be arguing about 143 vs. 145, IT'S TWO POUNDS. And between 143 and 147 is four pounds. Big deal.

Make Pac-Cotto at 147 and be done with it. Cotto will be healthy and Pacman will get all the credit if he wins.

I'm just so sick of months of negotiations for every big fight.

        "The split should be 57-43"
        "No way, 60-40 is it!"

        "It should be at 145."
"No it should be at 144."

I wish boxing was run like UFC. We'd spend less time worrying about splits and weights, and more time watching fights. All this crap discourages me as a devoted boxing fan.
I completely agree. This whole situation is getting out of hand and serves no other purpose except making boxing look bad. Surely there are enough weight divisions as there is without all of this f.uckery. Manny is the best fighter in the world, but he is endangering his reputation with all this nonsense, maybe not to hardcore followers of the sport, but to the casual fan or observer this kind of crap must be a bit of a turn off.

The point is that it shouldn't be a huge deal.

Why can't Pacman fight Cotto at 147? If he wants the welterweight title, fight at welterweight.

            it's not a big deal.

you think this fight will not happen because of a pound or two?

            it's negotiations.

people just make it a big deal because everyone writes an article about this fight every day.

i don't like catchweights either but it's not ruining boxing.

boxing has a lot of issues. catchweights is low on the list.

I think it's ****** that they're even talking about it, that's my point.

Make the fight at welterweight, end of story. No weight negotations. Just pick a weight class and carry on.

just how it is. one side tries to get the best deal for their guy and vice versa.

True. If Manny wants a welterweight crown, then he has to fight at welter.
