How can you say either guy is overrated? Mayorga was the welterweight champion and is exciting too watch. Gatti, well, tell me one fighter ever who is exciting as Gatti, plus hes a two-time champion. Both these guys bring it and both are warriors.

I agree that Mayorga is extremly overrated but how can Gatti be overratted when most people don't think he's that good. He is extremly popular for how good his is, but thats not being over-rated.

Thats a good point! So many people are quick to say hes overrated, and yet just as many talk about how average he is..how he's not a great fighter, etc..If everyone was saying he was extremely talented and an all time great, then he might be overrated..but too many are eager to bash him for his limitations. I think he's exciting as hell, and so do many others and all of those particular people really look forward to Gatti fights..so maybe thats why he seems 'overrated' to some. He's not overrated, and neither is the hype that usually surrounds his upcoming fights, cause he always delivers an exciting fight. Mayorga is very overrated, I think. He is little more than a street fight thug which is good for the tough streets in his country, but not so good in the ring. He beat Forrest once, but was completely outboxed in the rematch. He will be outboxed every time when his opponet is a skilled technician, unless he manages to land that powerful right, which I think is not only his biggest asset, it's also about the only thing he has going for him.

there is no way either of them are over-rated. everyone knows Mayorga is a one dimensional fighter so how can he be over-rated fighter? also how is gatti over-rated when ppl always pick at his flaws like his defense and how he forgets technique when he goes to war. or his stamina or how he cuts easily. whoever sed they're over-rated is kinda dumb

How is Mayo overrated? He beat 6 heads Lewis, who had a title at the time. He beat Forrest twice, who beat Mosley twice. He lost a close fight to Spinks while trying to unify the titles.

I dont get that. How can Gatti be overrated? For ever one person that says they like him and his style, there are atleast 5 people that come back with how talentless he is..so ordinary and fails to come thru when up against a real challenger..if anything he is put down way too frequently, which I'd say is the very opposite of overrated.
