This was always gonna be a tought fight for Floyd...tough but almost gauranteed a win because everything Marquez does n wants to do Floyd does better but that doesnt mean its gonna be easy. Specially now that Marquez has another 3 months to fill into the weight easily n also work his cardio, while Floyd rests his injury n spends EVEN MORE time outa the ring it should make it highly competitive....i dunno how Floyds timing is gonna be but i think he's gonna catch Marquez big in the late rds n once he hurts him he'll stop him or dominate him to a UD
Mayweather-Marquez Will Be at 144, Says Golden Boy

jreckoning.. When you talk fight night weights and make a parallel between Clottey-Kessler and Marquez-Mayweather, that's just making yourself look bad.. You're a knowledgable poster and you know that's not a real excuse. Mayweather barely rehydrates. Clottey goes WAY up. Kessler also does. So they would have a ridiculous disparity.
Clottey rehydrates to 168 against a 178 pound Kessler.
Marquez rehydrates to 143 against a 147 pound Mayweather.

The thing I always say is that Floyd has fought 9 times above 140 and JMM has weighed in at more than 135 never in his career.
So Floyd is way more experienced higher up in divisions.
JMM did all right at 135 but I swear he is slower than his prime at feather and superfeather(90 plus percent of his fights) and that's not a good thing fighting someone like Mayweather who's dealt with and handled guys who had careers much higher.
I think that's where the criticism lies. JMM is proven at lower weights and Floyd has been successful 9 times in divisions JMM has never even experienced.Comment

The exaggeration was to illustrate a point.
JMM no matter what he weights at fight night, we don't even know how he would do at jr ww, not even welter. He's never done it.
Floyd we know.
I don't take stock in fight night weights. Never did.Comment

This is a reasonable concern. I expect to see the same JMM that faced Casa and Diaz. He will be determined however however I think he going to get caught. The thing is the actual difference in size will be minimal. The comfort level would favor Floyd at this weight however the wild card is that Floyd hasn't been active. Its possible that he will be a bit uncomfortable just like JMM.
I know it isn't possible but it would've been nice to see JMM in at least a tune up at 140.Comment

Because if anything, the fight night weights are the irrelevant ones. You have to make that weight- regardless. The way that your body rehydrates indicates how well the fighter fits into the weight, how much energy they might have, how strong they will be, etc..Comment

He's never had to fight someone that had the luxury of tipping the scales at 144.Comment
