As I said in another thread. JMM is the most skilled fighter alive right now IMO. I have watched boxing for 35 years now and very few fighters could put punches together like he can. Not only in combination, but with incredible timing and placement.

There are fighters that can beat him, but mainly when they have a distinct advantage with Punch Output, Speed, Power or now Size. Some are just a bad style matchup for him. Manny and JMM are bad style matchups for each other.

If JMM was a natural welterweight, other welters would avoid him like the plague.

Well he kind of is a hybrid ofthe three. Just a crappier version. Dude is a tall freak like Hearns. Has a good chin and pressures like a poor version of JCC. And throws as many as Calzaghe. I do not think max was saying that he is as good as these three guys in one, but rather that he possesses their characteristics.

Exactly, some people here are too far up Cotto's ass to realize this. It doesn't mean that Cotto isn't a good boxer, it's just hard to find someone better than JMM.

When you look at Manny vs JMM, Manny has all the power and speed on his side, yet JMM made a fight of it with his skills alone.

JMM is a master in the ring and that's no bull****...

If Marquez and Cotto were naturally the same size,Marquez's skill set would be on a higher level, completely than Cotto's!!Cotto is bigger and will pose a completely different type of threat to their common foe!!While Marquez used his set of skills against the stronger Pacman,Cotto should have a size, power and strenght advantage over him,but that does not mean that Cotto has a skill advantage,it means he has a size advantage!!

Yeah JMM was more avoided than Manny, mainly because Manny offered an opponents more money and earlier on Manny had a few glaring weaknesses with over wildness and being so left hand dependent. Many thought they could beat Manny easier, but Manny's strengths would overcome them.

Manny got better over time, but even early on was still a tough fight for JMM because of his speed and power. Manny and JMM were bad style matchups for both of them as both could expose the others weakness by just fighting the way they do naturally.

No, Cotto is not but the distance between their skill levels is not very far apart. I think Marquez is more accurate and a better counter-puncher. Their defenses are about the same.

i personally dont think cotto is as skilled, he's a very good fighter no doubt but P4P marquez beats the hell out of him.
cotto is not more skilled than marquez but he is more skilled than pacquiao
