Questions Linger About Mikkel Kessler's Tourney Status

I know Kessler is in a bind with Palle, but that doesn't change the simple-minded comment that a poster made about how this tournament needs Kessler more than he needs it. And he can't stay idle forever. His situation is understandable but I still think the winner of this tournament should be the number 1 guy in the division without having to fight Kessler if all he is going to do is stay inactive or fight meaningless mandatories. He'll have to fight to get his #1 spot back. Are you completely unaware of the situation with Palle? He's had no choice. The bums you refer to were mandatories, and one of those took place in Germany, not Denmark; and Palle has now started to prevent him from even fighting mandatories any more; and for the last two years Palle has prevented him from fighting anyone who isn't a mandatory. Palle is like a much more evil version of Don King (but not so frightening to look at).Comment

That's some hard luck, I barely hear the WBA enforcing a mandatory, let alone 2 in less than a year for a 2 time titlist. They must really have it out for Kessler that they enforced 2 bums as mandatories back to back. Are you completely unaware of the situation with Palle? He's had no choice. That mandatory stuff is bs, they were highly ranked garbage opponents and Kessler fought them. It is what it is.Comment

I hate to be captain buzz kill, but I just don't see this tournament going down.
The idea is awesome but every single party involved is gonna demand **** that ain't happening.
We like the division because it's marquee to us, but to fans that buy these things, is it gonna be a success? Is it gonna rock it with big gates.
Doubt it.
I just don't know, man.Comment

I've only seen a comment saying the exact opposite - are you sure you didn't misread the post?
As for him losing his ranking, obviously he will, if he doesn't fight again, just as Ali did when he was banned from boxing. But all the hate posts implying that it's his fault that he's been inactive are completely unjustified.Last edited by Dave Rado; 07-06-2009, 10:10 PM.Comment
