If you change that to his next big fight, I'll agree. Ortiz's actual next fight will probably be against a soft touch buried on an undercard. For GBP to throw him in deep water next time would be idiotic.

For now, Victor Ortiz is a quitter and only history will tell if he is capable of erasing the negative tag put against him. The way he gave up the fight and the reason he provided were so shocking that the tag as a "Quitter" fits his actions.

He's in the same boat as Cotto, he will have to be in a fight like this and prove he won't quit and can pull it out and until then he will beat upside the head with it. De La Hoya is a HOF fighter and people still mad at him for quitting. Ortiz has a long road just to get back where he was and to even get where he was he will have to fight harder and be in tougher fights than what got him there, thats very difficult.

Unless you're standing in that ring staring down a tough and game Marcos Maidana, you are in no position to judge anyone for quitting...

I admit, Vic needs to mature into contender status, you can't be a great prospect forever.

Ortiz couldve won that fight. He only had to listen to his corner, that's it, but he didnt, and that cost him. I still think he can come back, and stronger too....

Well, he did have the **** beat out of him prior to quitting lol. I mean at what point does Ortiz tell himself mid-fight, to start 'ducking' Maidana's right hand? Or to put his gloves up? Or attempt to get out of the way of that right hand? He ate a lot of basic punches without figuring them out. That's actually more disconcerting than him quitting. I think he knew he was gonna end up on his back eventually, which is why he quit to begin with.

As for him considering quitting boxing for good, I think that was just an emotional response. I mean they dubbed him as the next big thing in boxing, before he even did anything in the sport. So gettin pummeled and takin a loss at the hands of a no name (we know his name now lol), probably hurt Ortiz initially. But now that he's takin a loss like this, he definitely won't have as much pressure on him to become the next "Golden Boy" or whatever the **** they were puttin on his shoulders to be. Now he can just go out and do his thing since few will even expect a solid career out of him. I mean, I think he is obviously the strongest guy at 140 hands down. Give him some ****in head movement and give him a more diverse set of punches at his disposal and he can be a dangerous man.

And out of all the fights we saw Ortiz in, who would have expected he was considered mostly a brawler??? I just watched a interview with Garcia (his trainer) before the Arnaoutis fight, and he was saying in spanish that Ortiz is 80% to 90% brawler and that they were trying to fix that. lol I never even seen him try brawl until that Maidana fight. So that kind of explains why he fought so ****in wild in that fight.
