I would not be surprise if GBP decides to rebuild Ortiz the JCC route. Fight 50 straight cab-drivers on route to a world championship, lol. if he makes it through all those cab drivers.

Say what you want about MMA, atleast their fighters get tested sooner, it takes like 30-40 fights for a "rising star" to take on someone with a pulse in boxing, atleast that's what usually happens.

I watched the fight and I thought he may be the next best thing. Like everyone else, of course I was perplexed by his post fight interview.

Can you gain heart and courage? Only time will tell with this guy, because it seems like that's all he needs. Unfortunately he reminds me of an Amir Khan with that chin of his, but 10x better.

He's a kid who got dragged into deep water for the first time. It happens a lot, but it usually happens to fighters in the amateurs. I will not label any fighter a quitter from one loss, it has to become a trend.

If he dedicates himself to the sport, he'll toughen up mentally. Add the amount of pressure Golden Boy and the media placed on him, I'm not totally surprised he lost it. If he gets his **** together he can still become a big player, but they cannot move him fast. He needs to be moved gradually.

Im glad this "real quit" Happened for all the Cotto haters, especially against Plasterito.
All those that jumped on the Cotto quit bandwagon now know what a "REAL QUIT" looks like. Even though there have been many real quits before Cotto...but it seems the haters really concentrated on Cotto.
I like Victor and do understand he is young, I do believe he will bounce back too. He made a young mans mistake and will grow.

Quitting doesn't bad at all provided excruciating pain from physical injury forbid him to continue fighting. But if caused by mental resignation, that would be unacceptable and unjust especially to ticket buyers. Ortiz did not offer much reasons of his quitting, leaving his fans hanging that made him unpopular.

But I believe he would bounce back one day once he got rid off his immaturity. For the meantime, it's just apt to call him a quitter!

of course it does. being young gives ortiz time to learn from his mistakes and to mentally toughen up.
