To those of you that actually read the article.....

They give many examples of someone who "quit", including Vitali Kilitchko, Bernard Hopkins and Chicanito Hernandez.

I see this kid Ortiz as a very emotional type, soft I would say. I didn't like the HBO highlights of his personal life, even at one point seeing him start crying. I'm not saying a man shouldn't cry but I think it's a bit selfish to think or at least portray yourself as some victim when your not the only one who overcome adversity.

There are plenty of people that have lived tougher lives and gotten by. I just think that Ortiz has been built up so much by the media, the boxing world and the people around him that he thinks he's the heir apparent to Oscar De LaHoya and those are some really big shoes to fill.

Hopefully this kid does bounce back and sometimes a loss or two can actually help someone like this that thinks that the titles and accolades are just going to come no matter what. He now might realize that hard work, toughness and perseverance is what it takes to be great. No matter what natural skill you may have.

Damn!! That's what a real quit looks like. Homie said f*** this sh**, I'm to young to be getting beat like this. Oscars face was priceless...

I hope he bounces back from this, he seems like a good kid.

I'm with you brotha. This kid has too much talent. He's just gotta get his head straight and start growing up as a boxer. He definitely has something to prove now, even more a reason to fuel him into a big splash comeback.

Ortiz doesn't have too much talent...not enough is more like it.

You obviously don't have a sharp eye for boxing to say that. Same with you saying that his age doesn't matter.

when a fighter pulls something like this, you wonder how he will do when he's once again in a tough fight,i'll just be wondering at what moment is he going to quit, again

Its almost ignorant to compare him to legends of the game in the past that have QUIT! These guys already have made their mark. Their stock has already reached the peak. To Quit as fresh meat or a prospect is damaging. There will be tougher fights this Kid will have to face and harder ass whoopins he will endure...Unless they put him in with soft opposition throughout his career . Where there also he fades into a fighter who cant live up. Either way he made a bad call career wise and if he is that soft **** him. I dont care to see his pansy ass fight again anyway. Maybe he will bounce back and prove a lot of people wrong...IMO, Hes done...In due time!

I disagree as well. Ortiz actually is pretty technically skilled and keeps very good composure, with the exception of this last fight, which he admitted that he didn't follow the game plan. His punches are fast, crisp and accurate. I'm not disagreeing about the age necessarily, but I do think that he had a lot of pressure on with the build up and exposure that was being pushed on him and in more instances than not with young fighters, that can be crippling.
