My interpretation is that they would be in play as well, as long as the sanctioning organizations were cordial enough to sign off on the assigned opponents as fulfilling the mandatory obligations. From what I've read (Dan Rafael), all involved have agreed that the tournament gets priority over ABC titles, so I guess we may see someone vacate.
Ward is mandatory for Froch, so maybe they'll work that fight into it.
Dirrell is mandatory for Balzsay, so it's a shame that he isn't involved. Having said that, I don't think I'd pick him over the 6 guys who are participating, so the line-up is excellent as it is.
Still can't quite believe that something like this might actually happen. It sounds too good to be true.Comment
