Lucian Bute's Team Steamed Over Tournament Overlook

The boxing world is buzzing after Friday's bombshell on BoxingScene.com. We reported that Showtime was moving forward with their planned super middleweight tournament. The round robin format will feature undefeated IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham, WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler, former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, undefeated contender Andre Ward, undefeated contender Andre Dirrell and undefeated WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch. Sounds like smoke and mirrors from Bute's team to excuse why they aren't taking part.

Both Rick Reeno and Dan Rafael are reporting that their sources had Bute's people not willing to commit to the tournament format.

It's a shame really because he deserves to be in it as much as anyone.

And someone needs to tell Majeski that his man Pascal holds the WBC 175 lb belt now and probably should hang onto it while he can instead of getting involved in a tournament he has virtually no chance of winning.

Put Bute AND Andrade in the tournament and have their fight as one of the tournament matches. That makes it eight fighters in all and that number can be broken down eventually into four, then two, then one.

A round robin tournament is much better than an elimination tournament.

Bute should go fight Pascal or Pavlik or Williams. There a good fights out there if he's not in the tourney.

Its fine, but Andrade is way overrated. He was getting drilled by Bute until he was gassed. If they added two more, id say Bute and Bika. Balzsay is even better than both, but I doubt Universum would commit.

exacally what I was going to say. Its pretty dumb having Bute off this list. If they want the best sw's in the world, they need Bute there too. And Andrade can do more then hold his own against all of the above.

Exactly Showtime has already had Bute fights, why wouldn't they have made an offer to him for the tournament. I hope Balszay, Green, and Bika can find a way to get involved too.
