IMO Manny's first win against Barrera is his biggest win and his only real significant one. He fought JMM to a draw and an arguable SD, lost to Morales before beating him when he was obviously shot, made a run at LW and faced the weakest opposition available, fought a 36 year old man who had no business in WW, and then took out a hype job in Hatton. This fight for Pacquiao means a lot since it will be his only real stiff competition in weights north of 130 pounds. Equally this is just as important to Cotto since to be the man you gotta beat the man and like it or not Pacman is the man right now. I personally am rooting for Cotto.
ofcourse you hate manny and said all negative from him cuz your defending your guy,al of you haters just stay haters..i dont know if what will you going to say if ever manny beats beats coto....how could you turn down all this little mans achievements that since the barrere fight people not giving him a chance to win but after all what he has done is being counterd to ridiculed him..drained,old,hype,,what else???:wank:

I think Cotto will end up settling for 60-40. He isn't one to hold out for money. Actually, I have never seen him hold out. So I would be suprised to see him hold out on a contract.

60/40 or 55/45 is what should be.

Cotto will bring half the PPV buys and more people at the gate!!!!!!!

Based on Pac's popularity at this moment I dont see how you can deny Pac no worse than 70/30.

I don't in any way hate Pacquiao. He's one of the boxers I actually respect however the facts are there. The Barrera fight put him on the map and since then he's done very well at 130. He beat Morales into retirement and was cleaning house there. However since jumping weight he hasn't defended a single title he's won nor has he taken on solid or best competition available. JMM took on Casamayor and Juan Diaz in his campaign at 135 and in his next weight jump is taking on the man that was considered the P4P best until his 'retirement', Mayweather. Pacquiao took on ODLH which Roach made abundantly clear even before the fight that Oscar had nothing in him nor that he could pull the trigger and then faced a man that Roach said was easy for a boxer like Pacquiao and that he guaranteed wouldn't go past 3 rounds. Both by the way which are Mayweather left overs. Pacquiao has had his opponents catered to his style north of 130 pounds and I am relieved that he is finally going to take on a legit threat in Cotto. Pacquiao will be set to defend the title should he win against solid opposition (Mayweather, Mosely) as they are both interested in a fight and may mark his first title defense in a new weight class.

This really isnt that hard to figure out.

-Pacquiao 1# p4p>Cotto barely in the top 10

-Pacquiao is the 1# star in the sport.

-the fight is held in vegas not new york so cotto's drawing power is slightly diminished. even if its at new york, nobody is arguing who is the bigger star, its pacquiao

-Resume wise, Pacquiao blows cotto out of the water. Pac is the first ballot hall of famer not cotto.

-Last 3 fights of Pacquiao 3 wins in exciting dominating fashion>>>Cotto's loss to margarito, win vs jennings, & split decision vs clottey.

-other options for both fighters; Pacquiao can have his pick of the litter vs a hall famer in mosley, marquez, & fraud jr. & anybody else in boxing. All fighters would rather face pacquiao first than cotto. again advantage pacquiao.

Add all that up & its no injustice to ask for 65-35. Pacquiao trumps cotto in every conceivable aspect in the negotiating table in terms of drawing power, resume, status, & position in the sport as of right now.

yes you may have a point tere...but manny and roach is making a wise move...do you think he ca be as what he is now if he stays @ 135 and defend his tittle there?the answer is no right cuz his name didnt mixedup with mosley, cotto, delahoya, hatton,,,,these guys are tthe man in their divisions which makes you become pouplar if you try to compete and mixed with them....

70/30 in favor of Manny. 65/35 that will be too generous of the Pacman.

                      what are the odds

Mayweather and pacman will never happen you have the so called P4P king Mayweather and the new pacman. Mayweather would laugh himself into retirement before he excepts a deal like that
