Cotto's best chance is to get Pac out of there early. If the fight gets to the second half then Pac wins by TKO, either way I can't wait. Pac TKO 10.

Which is always keeping a jab up on him and smart boxing i.e JMM.
I don't think Cotto will back up against the ropes against Pacquiao because Pac's not going to try and push Cotto. The thing with Cotto is he's a real crafty dude and is one of the most accurate punchers in the sport. Speed > power, but Accuracy > Speed when you got a guy who knows how to time you, and Cotto has taken advantage and won a lot of his fights being that accurate. But Pacquiao is also a very accurate puncher and throws with volume, which Cotto seems to not like.

Also, we don't know how well Pac is going to take shots from Cotto who though isn't a 1 punch KO artist, he has enough power to cause problems throught the course of a fight. To credit both Clottey and Margarito, both guys were very durable which has made Cotto look like less of a threat than what he probably still is.

        Very compelling fight

The only real way to predict a fight is basically theorizing how both would do against each other if* they both brought their A game.

No one will argue that since Pac's first loss to Morales that he has improved immensely over the years.

While on the other hand it seems as though that Cotto is slowly deteriorating. Look it at it how you like but, IMHO after the Marg fight I can honestly say that Cotto is and hasn't been the same.

Coming in to this fight it is crucial to both fighters knowing how they ended their last fights. How they finished, how they improved, what mistakes they made etc etc. It gives them a sense of where they are at.

Now it is my opinion that because Clottey was able to land clean shots w/ no problem on Cotto all night. Pac may not have the physical size as Clottey, but he would have the hand speed over Clottey w/out a doubt. Pac speed and accuracy leads me to believe he'll do the same if not more.

Speed > Power. Timing can disrupt hand speed i.e JMM v. Pac. But, Cottos is no JMM. Cotto has technical skills, but I believe his movement and gas tank will not match to Pac's.

When I look at both fighters I see that both carry the weight of their country over their shoulders. I see that Cotto has this real warrior-like performance. Pac no matter who the opposition fights at 110% every single time and the x-factor which is the scariest part is that he's still improving.

My prediction: Pac by 11rd. TKO. Cotto puts up a real fight but Manny relentlessness and endless gas tank + his innate ability to land 3-4 punches before the other fighter lands one back will eventually break down the Puerto Rican.
Solid post. I agree with you homey.

Nah, Cotto is slightly taller. You can never trust tale of the tape, Boxrec, or any of that **** to be sure of their actual stats.

I dont think Cotto is slowly deteriorating, I think he is just fighting top level welterweight competition...

Margarito, Mosley, Clottey.... you arent going to look pretty fighting these guys
