  • A few I havent seen mentioned about the fight ( Pac v. Cotto)

From all the threads I've read so far and across WWW both sides have compelling solid arguments of which back their opinions.

The only real way to predict a fight is basically theorizing how both would do against each other if* they both brought their A game.

No one will argue that since Pac's first loss to Morales that he has improved immensely over the years.

While on the other hand it seems as though that Cotto is slowly deteriorating. Look it at it how you like but, IMHO after the Marg fight I can honestly say that Cotto is and hasn't been the same.

Coming in to this fight it is crucial to both fighters knowing how they ended their last fights. How they finished, how they improved, what mistakes they made etc etc. It gives them a sense of where they are at.

Now it is my opinion that because Clottey was able to land clean shots w/ no problem on Cotto all night. Pac may not have the physical size as Clottey, but he would have the hand speed over Clottey w/out a doubt. Pac speed and accuracy leads me to believe he'll do the same if not more.

Speed > Power. Timing can disrupt hand speed i.e JMM v. Pac. But, Cottos is no JMM. Cotto has technical skills, but I believe his movement and gas tank will not match to Pac's.

When I look at both fighters I see that both carry the weight of their country over their shoulders. I see that Cotto has this real warrior-like performance. Pac no matter who the opposition fights at 110% every single time and the x-factor which is the scariest part is that he's still improving.

My prediction: Pac by 11rd. TKO. Cotto puts up a real fight but Manny relentlessness and endless gas tank + his innate ability to land 3-4 punches before the other fighter lands one back will eventually break down the Puerto Rican.

    good post

im tellin you, if Cotto is to win this fight, he needs to put PAC out early

unless he fixes his stamina issues, the worst thing for Miguel is going into deep waters against someone who has that extra gear for those championship rounds

its a great matchup between a fighter that's on an unbelievable roll vs one that is bigger and stronger

either way, should be one helluva fight

There's a lot of circumstances which you don't mention, yet make assumptions like cuts. A deteriorating Cotto was able to find a way to win a very tough fight with a nasty gash. south paw vs conventional, its almost sure someone will get cut, not necessarily by a punch. On the other hand, if that was Pac was Cotto vs Clottey, could we expect the same result? Again, ppl talking about Pac's work rate, speed and power, is Cotto fighting with two tied hands behind his back? How many guy has Cotto stopped who never been stopped before? You think Maybe, just maybe, Cotto might have enough pop to disrupt those combos? Will Cotto run into Pac's shots same way Hatton did? If not what happens then, maybe Pac starts bullying his way in and get caught with something? Yes, there are a lot of questions that will be answered in Nov, should be a great fight.

Cotto should win by KO once he puts heavy leather on Pac.

Personally I think Cotto's best shot may be to 'do a Morales' and BOX Pacquiao, only allowing himself to trade for brief periods in order to put some hurt on Pacquiao's body and score with the judges.

I believe Cotto is more technically sound than Pacquiao

Saying that, I think Pacquiao will either TKO Cotto very late or win a decision, having hurt Cotto several times during the 12 rounds

Cotto also has the tendacy to keep his back on the ropes a lot. Which in most cases is bad. Pac's advantage IMO has never his so called power punch. It's been his extremely busy work rate coupled with hand speed and accuracy. Only thing I see stopping him is what Morales in fight 1 and JMM did to him. Which is always keeping a jab up on him and smart boxing i.e JMM.

If this fight were at 147,Cotto beats Pacman easily!!But since this fight is going to be at a catchweight, all of a sudden, this fight becomes razor close!!If Cotto backs Pacman up and lands enough solid body shots,Cotto wins!!If Pacman backs Cotto up,he wins!!

Neither one can fight backing up!!Marquez doesnt pop like Cotto and on the occations when he backed Pacman up,he looked very uncomfortable,If Cotto lands big thunder,Pacman will be in for tough times!!Cotto on the other hand against big fighters on the move, makes many mistakes!!If Pacman proves stronger Cotto's night ends short!!
