I've heard a couple of posters claim that the only reason Juan Manuel Marquez took this fight is only for money. Money is only part of the reason he took it. He wants the glory too. Does anyone seriously think that the only reason that Barrera fought Naz is for the money? I don't. Marquez has fought mobile and skilled boxers before and that is the exact kind of style that Manny Pacquiao has never fought in his whole career. In fact, Beristain went on record in the lead up to the Diaz fight saying that Nate Campell would be their next fight at Lightweight, and it was a statement he made to BoxingScene. But Campell messed that up by not making weight against Ali Funeka.Comment

If you follow Marquez interview during the years, he is constantly craving for his place in boxing history and super stardom. He will fight this fight regardless of what Mayweather might impose on him. He feels that the big matchup eluded him before and now finally he is almost were he wants to be. Since Pac wasn't fighting him Floyd accepted the challenge. Marquez determination will be an asset in the fight.Comment

JMM would just be doing what PAC has already done!!!
Hold up, there has been way too many post how JMM has more balls than PAC for accepting to go up in weight. Pacquiao has already done what this rumor thread claim is gonna happen. Fought David Diaz at 135 limit then his next fight, fought Oscar at 147 limit. Am I the only one who knows that reality, people get it twisted sometimes. Not to mention Pac fought Marquez at 130 limit before Diaz. So between three fights he jumped 17 lbs, and between a fight he jumped 12 lbs and he did this within 9 months!!!!!! He annihilated his last 3 opponents and yes he got an official split decision win over Marquez, if you call that a blemish on his resume. Fact is:
Marquez – Jr. Lightweight 130 lbs. - SD win
David Diaz – Lightweight 135 lbs. KO win
Oscar De la Hoya – Welterweight 147 lbs. TKO win
Average boxing fans just recognize the Hatton destruction. I suggest ya’ll get your facts straight. If Marquez does agree to 147 lbs. and knocks out Floyd Mayweather Jr., what I’ll be saying is he just did what PAC has already done.Comment
